"Mum" that was the only word that would come out. After all these years and now she decides to come back, her hair is shorter than I remember it but it's still a limp, dark brown, the total opposite of my wild pink mane. Something akin to fear and guilt flashed through her icy blue eyes as they landed on me, before they went cold and emotionless and her bright red lips pulled into a grim smile. She wouldn't even look at me properly, as she brushed fluff off of her red dress crossing her high-heeled feet at the ankle.

I turned away from her and studied the man at the desk, he had short messy black hair and kind green eyes, the look was complete with a strong jaw bone covered in a small layer of fuzz and pink lips pulled into a warm smile. It made me want to trust him but I didn't and I couldn't, you can't trust anyone if they don't give you a reason to.

"Eleanor, please take a seat" he spoke his voice warm and calming. But I stayed standing my face an emotionless mask. I turned to ask matron to take me back to my room - as I did not want to be in the same vicinity as the woman abandoned me - but she was no longer in the room and my realisation left me with a sense of isolation and loneliness.

"Good morning Mrs Jenson, my names Richard young."

"Good morning Dr young, why was I called here today. If you wouldn't mind me asking" my mother grimaced.

"I have an opportunity for your daughter, the chance of a lifetime." he lean't forwards against his desk.

"And what would this be?"

"I want to enrol her in a school for specially gifted children, I believe you've heard of  gamme aigle school for gifted children "I have no memory of such a school but my mother seems to remember one as her tan skin turns ashen white and her eyes widen in shock.

"No. No way. Not happening"

"Mrs Jenson I don't think you realise that this would be a wonderful opportunity for Eleanor to learn how to control, contain and explore her abilities. It gives her a chance at being normal" states the young m... Dr young. I turn to my mother to gauge her reaction but she is shaking her head vigorously from side to side. She looks on the verge of a breakdown.

"I wont have you send my baby to Chanta! She's not used to the world out there, she wont be able to survive out there! I entrusted her to your care, not some posh school on the other side of Bragia." she shouted looking ready to turn on the waterworks to get  her own way. I tilted my head to the side, confused as to what they were talking about. When did mother have another baby? Was it a boy or a girl? I wonder what they look like. Why am I here to discuss Mothers other child?.

"You've had another baby? Why am I here?" I inquired in an emotionless voice, tilting my head a little more to the side. They both looked surprised as they drew their heated gazes away from each other and gave me their full attention or as much attention they can give considering they were still sending glares to one another.

"Why would you think I've had another baby" queried mother.

"You just said that you wont have him send your baby to Chanta"

"You misunderstand me"  she tries to put on a reassuring smile "I was talking about you"

"But I'm not a baby" I state even more confused than before. "I haven't been a baby since my sixth birthday when you sent me away." She winced at that and her eyes began to shine slightly.

"I'm sorry" Her voice cracks. "I-I didn't mean to leave for so long. I-I meant to come back. You know I did. I just couldn't.. Not with you lik-like that. I couldn't" she half sobbed, half sighed, I wish I could feel something for her but I was empty of any emotions that I had left for her.

She sniffled into a tissue she had pulled from her purse, "I love you. I really do. With all my heart." she wiped the few tears that had trailed down my cheeks. "Do you want to go to this school? If you do, I'll try not to say anything against it."

"They wont test me there will they." The thoughts of the experiments that some of the past doctors had done left me shivering to my core.

"No. Not without your permission, they can't touch you. You have my word and my sword." The doctor spoke directly to me, his eyes seeming to read right through me. I turned to face my mother instead. Not quite wanting him to see what was going on in my mind.

"Then I want to go. I'll miss matron but, I can NOT stay here for the rest of my life."

She turned to Dr young her voice slightly stronger. "What proof do you have that this is the best option for my child." After a long conversation between the two my mother finally conceded and signed the contract, and I was sent back to my room to rest.
