Taiki, Spe-7 and Suzuka all find themselves touching down, and they find themselves in a strange part of the moon.
"Where are we?" Suzuka asks. Her question is answered when a woman emerges. Most of her face is shrouded by a hood, but where her eyes would be they bleed black and she sports three glowing green eyes- as if she had taken them from an acolyte. She's dressed in mostly brown clothing and in her hands is a strange rock that glows an ethereal green. Spe-7 immediately hides behind Taiki, but Taiki is much more welcoming, opening up his arms for a hug.
"Eris Morn, I never thought I would see you again." Taiki says as the two share a quick hug. "What brings you back to the moon once more? Is it the pyramid?"
"What is it anyway?" Suzuka asks.
"You two have not heard of the traveler's sacrifice before, have you?" Eris asks. "When the traveler awoke during the red war and destroyed Ghaul, the energy could be picked up by it's natural enemy, the darkness. The darkness is not very well understood, but they bring chaos wherever they go."
"And this pyramid is the darkness?" Spe-7 asks.
"It is but a remnant of their existence." Eris explains. "Had it been struck down by the traveler? Or was it placed here on purpose?"
"How are we going to find that out?" Taiki asks.
"We find a way inside." Eris replies.
"...You're going to try and go inside that pyramid? Are you crazy?!" Spe-7 asks in shock.
"Eris is anything but crazy." Taiki chuckles. "She's helped us deal with the Hive before, she can do it again and help us kick their butts."
"These two must not know very much about the hive and their past, do they?" Eris asks.
"We saw Crota... I thought I had killed him." Taiki replies.
"Then we saw the fanatic and Ghaul..." Spe-7 says. "We killed them!"
"They are still dead." Eris replies. "But what you fought was not them. They appear to be... Something else entirely."
"I could have sworn they were out for us... It felt like a nightmare." Spe-7 says.
"That's probably our best solution for a name, as they have been long dead but they... Have been recreated... Nightmares..." Eris replies. "From what I have seen the hive are working in tandem with these nightmares, but I believe that the pyramid is responsible for these supernatural beings and it has more ulterior purposes... Taiki, I sense a strange energy coming off of you."
"From me?" Taiki asks, fishing through his pockets. He does find something and yanks it out, revealing it to be a strange essence. It looks like a strange blue hunk of rock and he feels an emotion radiating off of it. "What is it?"
"It appears to be something that you knocked off the nightmare of Crota..." Eris replies. "This could be used against the nightmares, turned into something to counter them..."
"Are we going to be able to join you this time?" Suzuka asks.
"Sadly, you will not be able to join your friend." Eris replies. "These nightmares are too dangerous to have a whole squad go in. We do not know how powerful they are and should they prove to be too strong, we can't afford to lose a fireteam- not after I lost mine."
"Man... Why is it always that we can't join? I wanna kick some alien butt too!" Spe-7 whines.
"I'm sorry Spe-chan, but some risks are just not worth taking. Who's going to take my place if I'm gone?" Taiki asks.
"...He has a point." Suzuka replies.
"Look... Suzuka..." Taiki says. "I have a feeling that by the time this is all said and done, I'm not sure what's going to happen to me... We've never been so close to the darkness like this before."
"Taiki?" Suzuka asks.
"If I ever fall to the darkness, promise you'll be the one to put me down..." Taiki replies before he rushes off with Eris, leaving Suzuka worried and Spe-7 stupefied.
"So... What now?" Spe-7 asks, but she gets cut off as Zavala comes in through Twinkle.
"Suzuka, Spe, where are you right now?" Zavala asks.
"We were with Taiki and Eris but the two walked off to do something else. It's just us for now." Spe-7 replies.
"Well, I just detected a spike of energy coming from the EDZ." Zavala says. "Hawthorne isn't sure what it is, and she's looking for you two to go investigate."
"Roger that." Suzuka replies. "Should we meet up with you first?"
"No need. Hawthorne says you can go right on ahead. The energy spike was last detected within the gulch." Zavala says. "She also reports that the number of cabal in the area has been decreasing significantly, as if they have been slaughtered en masse. I don't know if this is a new guardian or something else, be careful."
"Roger that, we're on our way." Spe-7 says. "Let's go Suzuka-chan!"
"Right!" Suzuka replies as the two hop into their jumpships and jump to warp speed.
"Spe! Suzuka! Good to hear from you again!" Hawthorne says. "Are you two here yet?"
"We're on our way." Suzuka replies. "We're heading straight to the gulch to find out what in the world this strange energy spike is. Zavala suspects a new guardian but we can't be too sure."
"Well, whatever it is, just be careful out there." Hawthorne says.
"And we're breaching the atmosphere of the EDZ! We're dropping in!" Spe-7 replies.
