With the equine trio at the tower, Zavala got to meet Gold Ship in person, and he could feel the roaring titan energy emanating from her.
"Loyal to the bitter end and strong enough to hold that loyalty... That is what a titan is." Zavala says. "Shall I just refer to you as Gold?"
"Please do, it's a lot easier." Gold Ship, now simply called Gold, replies. "And this is Queen."
"Ah, the ghost that revived you." Zavala says. "You've proven yourself already a mighty warrior judging from what these two have had to say." And Twinkle shows the feed of Gold wiping the floor with the cabal, and the giant pile of dead legionaries and phalanxes. "For a titan without armor and weapons, you prove yourself very powerful with the light. Now all you really need is the armor and the guns necessary to defend humanity, for that is the job of a guardian."
"Taiki may have some leftover armor in his vault, you could use that." Suzuka replies. "Although we would have to modify it to fit you."
"That won't be a problem." Fang says. "I can make this work." And with that Fang goes through Taiki's vault, taking some of his old armor, and he immediately starts reforming it to fit Gold's physique, with Queen occasionally making comments and making sure the armor is up to standard. When the armor is finished Gold finds herself further empowered with light, and the weapon that she gets makes her even stronger than before.
"Wait... What is this gun?" Gold asks as she looks at Sturm, the hand cannon that Taiki used to wield before he settled for Cayde's Ace of Spades.
"It used to belong to Taiki, the one that aided these two for so long. Ever since he went to the moon though, we haven't heard much from him." Zavala replies.
"So... What do I do?" Gold asks.
"Well, Spe and Suzuka here have been helping defend humanity since they were resurrected, I do believe they can help you learn the ways of a guardian." Zavala replies. "There's been strange activity going on in the EDZ, where you were first found."
"The gulch? What's going on there?" Suzuka asks.
"There's been a strange spike of energy, something that's been tied to the darkness." Zavala replies. "We're not sure what it exactly is, but we need someone to investigate as those who have tried before... Have not come back."
"I see." Spe-7 says. "Don't worry, we'll go in and see what's going on, and we'll be back."
"I trust you two in that." Zavala replies as the trio of guardians head off into the EDZ. When they land in the gulch they realize there are very few cabal, fewer than before- those that are around look warily.
"Do you think they noticed us?" Gold asks as she aims with her bow. "Why in the world did Taiki use this thing though?" Her question is answered when she fires a single arrow and it pierces straight through the backpack of an unsuspecting incendior and causes it to explode, taking out those right next to it. "So what are we looking for here anyway?"
"It was something that was killing previous fireteams." Suzuka replies as the trio decide to investigate the tunnels once more. As they head further down though they begin hearing a strange roaring noise- one that sounded like one of the cabal but at the same time it didn't. "What was that?"
"I don't know but I don't want to be around when it tries to kill us..." Gold mumbles, but unfortunately for her the threat finds them. Coming rushing out is what appears to be an incendior, but it sports mostly black armor and strange red tendrils are jutting out from it's back. It lets out an inhuman roar and sends the trio flying with a powerful compression blast. "What is THAT?!"
"I don't know but I'm shooting it!" Spe-7 shouts as she fires a rocket, but when the dust clears the black armored incendior continues to march on, completely unfazed by the shot. "What?! I thought that would send it back!"
"RUN!" Gold screams as the trio book it, occasionally turning around to take shots at the strange incendior. "That thing's nearly unstoppable! None of our guns are even making it flinch!" Eventually the trio make it out of the tunnels where more cabal are waiting, but they move back when they see that the unstoppable incendior has followed them out. Spe-7 and Suzuka both throw their grenades at the hunking mass of cabal but not even those make it look the other way and finally, Gold unleashes all of her solar energy, lighting her boots on fire and delivering staggeringly powerful kicks. They don't stagger the incendior but they do enough damage that it starts to show signs of wear and tear before finally one last kick decapitates the strange flamethrower wielding cabal, causing it to slump to the ground in defeat. The cabal that are nearby immediately retreat upon seeing the sheer power of Gold, and the trio report to Zavala.
"What happened? Are you alive?" Zavala asks.
"We found a strange cabal incendior in the tunnels." Suzuka replies. "It was infused with... Something and no matter what we shot it with- rockets, grenades, sniper bullets, NOTHING was making that thing flinch. It also had these red tendrils jutting out of it's back." Zavala is silent for a few seconds as if he had realized something.
"Then come back to the tower as soon as you can... Something is gravely wrong here..." Zavala says.
