Mare's POV:

On my way to school, my phone starts ringing.

I look at the Caller ID:

🧚‍♀️💖mommas boi🧚‍♀️💖 was calling.

I chuckled at my ingenious contact naming skills, and slid the little green receiver icon to the left.

"Hey Mavey, what's poppin?"

I could hear him sigh in despair and annoyance on the other line. "Mare, now is really not the time for jokes."

"What part of that was the joke?"

"Ya know, the 'poppin' and calling me 'Mavey'-"

"Maven literally shut the fuck up. I hate the sound of your voice."

He sighed again. "Mare, I am serious-"

"Yeah, so am I. Why are you still talking?"

I heard him mutter something unintelligible. "Whatever. You're obviously not worth talking to right now, so please do me a favor of calling me back when you're ready to have a real conversation. Goodbye."

Oh my God, this motherfucker. Who the hell does he think he is- someone who has the right to end a conversation with me? Absolutely not.

"Maven Calore, I swear to God- " *beep beep beep* I quietly laugh to myself as the tone indicates that our chat was supposedly done, and fling my phone into the passenger seat.

That whore hung up on me.

Bitch.

Maven's POV:

I don't know about you, but I think that went really well.

I was trying to save Mare's sorry ass, but apparently she didn't want my help as badly as I thought because she wasn't willing to stop talking for 5 seconds.

Mare knows that she has to move. And that's it.

She knows that some "hot- shot millionaire" wants to tear down her house in order to build "something" there. She doesn't know that  that "hot -shot millionaire" is actually my crazy billionaire mother and that "something" is The Merandus Memorial Community Garden, which is a closed in area with flowers and a big statue of herself in the center. (After dealing with my mother for 16 years, I'll take what I can get. I'm basically suicidal at this point.)

And Mare really doesn't need to know the truth.

She's obviously pissed, as she should be. She claims that her brothers are old and responsible enough to finally move out of their parent's house and into their own. Cal has offered to help fund them, but she keeps pushing him away.  Mare's also now in charge of moving her parents to apartments on the other side of town, and thinks that she'll be moving with them as well.

Yeah, fuck that, she's moving in with us.

Mother and I still need her for our- excuse me- my plan to eliminate Cal. And as for my brother... well, I don't actually know why he wants to keep her around. I understand he has a crush on her, but it's literally just a crush, like, get over yourself, you rat. She's my girlfriend, you said so. So you can go and have a pow-wow with Evangeline and leave alone the ONE thing that I finally have to myself.

Okay, that for sure sounds like a super-villain monologue, but I swear I'm not one!

I'm the good guyyyyyy.
I swear.

Cal's POV:

It's Thursday.

I have my big date with Mare tonight.

Super excited.

But first, I must get through the day with my girlfriend- and future wife- Evangeline.

I don't like her. At all. But I think that if I can convince her that I do, we can have a semi-good relationship in the future. I just have to make sure to keep the act up at all times when we're wed. It's easy enough when I only see her at school, and at Starbucks after, but I'll really have to watch myself when I'm around her 24/7.

Cause that might be an issue.

Again, super excited about Mare.

I woke up with an extra skip in my step this morning, knowing what tonight would bring. I then proceeded to get dressed in my crispest black T-shirt and jeans, and sprayed an extra healthy dose of cologne on, ya know, just in case.

Brushed my teeth extra well, also.

I walked a couple doors down the hallway and knocked on Maven's door. "I'm leaving, get in the car." I called, then hurried down the large marble staircase and out the grand doors.

I slid on my radiators and held my right hand out, not even looking as Jean Luc placed the keys of my white Lamborghini in my palm. I held the key in front of me and pressed the button to unlock it, satisfied when the car made a honking sound, signifying it has done as I asked.

(A/N: hey, yeah I had way too much fun with that. can you like go back and pretend he did it in slow motion? thanks.)

I slid into the black leather interior and was surprised to see Maven already in the car, sporting the front seat.

I gave him a look and he let out an exasperated  sigh, gazing at me with pleading eyes. "Can I please sit in the front today?" he asked.

I shrugged. "You know the rules." I said, and kicked the car into drive.

We arrived at the Samos' equally as nice mansion- and in no more than 15 seconds since we came Evangeline was walking down the front walkway, her meticulous silver hair pulled and prodded into tight waves.

She scowled as she approached us, obviously spying Maven in her signature spot. "Get in the back, Shithead." she said while swinging open the car door with a fascinating ferocity.

I tried to give my brother an apologetic look as he trudged out and into the rear.

Evangeline easily replaced him, leaning back and looking up into the bright morning sky. She too had sunglasses on in order to shield her face from the beating sun.

I guess I was observing her for too long, because she grunted in annoyance and turned to face me, flicking her sunglasses to her forehead.

"Look. I know that I'm perfect in every way, shape, and form. But, that doesn't  give you the right  to stare at me all day. It's only 8:30 in the morning, Cal, and I, quite frankly, am exhausted of it. Do you-"

Okay, okay. Now, I don't like it anymore than you do. But sometimes, it's the only way to get her to shut up. So I take her face in my hands, and press a kiss to her pink lips. She immediately stops and melts into it, moving her lips in time with mine.

As soon as I feel like it's appropriate, I break the the caress and smile. "You were saying?" She snickers and drapes her arm around my neck.

Until a very uncomfortable sounding cough breaks us from the mood.

I look around Evangeline and see a very awkward Elane standing by my convertible.

Evangeline cleared her throat and withdrew her hands from my collar, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear and looking straight ahead. "Oh, and you're also taking Elane this morning." she declared, a certain impasse flooding her voice.

I nodded and gave a small smile to Elane. "Of course." I said, nodding to the back seat.

I suddenly became painfully aware of Maven's presence.

The entire drive there my girlfriend babbles about makeup and lip-gloss and shit, but I can't stop thinking about Mare, especially after my intimate moment with Evangeline. And I couldn't help wondering what tonight would entail for us...
