Mare's POV:

"Mare GET UP."

"No."

"Yes."

"Gisa I swear, if you don't leave me alone right now, I'll lightning this place up!"

"You can't do that, weirdo."

"Ever heard of an expression?"

I sat up in bed, staring daggers at my little sister, Gisa who was currently leaning on my legs. She backed up towards the door, laughing her little heart out, whipping her red braids back and forth.

"Mom says you have to be ready by 7:15, or else!" She sings.

"Yeah, yeah. Now get out you little maggot!" I chuckled throwing a pillow in her direction. She laughed, and slipped out the door.

I rolled my eyes, and got up. I walked over to the bathroom, and tried to comb through my rats nest of brown hair.

My house isn't big.

At all.

The Barrow family is at the low end of the spectrum of houses in Norta. Starting with the Calore Mansion, and pretty much ending with Will Whistle's shack.

My neighbor.

So why would I, Mare Barrow, be going to Archeon Academy, one of the most prestigious schools in Norta? Well let me tell you...

I have absolutely no idea.

It was the weirdest thing. I was just out, walking around town, and I ran into this kid. He looked older than me, but still. I kind of just talked to him, we laughed, laughed some more, he said his name was Cal, and then he gave me a freaking dollar for absolutely no reason, said bye, smiled, and walked off.

I spent the dollar on a Ring Pop for Kilorn.

And then, (as if it couldn't get more weird) I got a scholarship, just randomly in the mail, for Archeon.

My mom was thrilled, blubbering about how I can finally get a good education, and I was going to be the successful Barrow. (Haha. Suck it Gisa. She was pretty jealous, since she crochets in her spare time, and sells her pieces on EBay.) Today is my first day. So excited.

Obviously.

I ran down the stairs as soon as I was ready.

"It's 7:21, Mare." My mom said as I shoved a bagel into my mouth.

"Yeah, Mare, you're LATE!" Trammy giggled. "That's a first."

I punched him in the arm. "Says the boy who's never been early in his life. Oh, unless it's when you meet Ada. In that case you're always on time." I chuckled. He suddenly turned beet red.

"We're going on 7:25, get going!" Mom yelled.

I ran over to her and gave her a hug. She cupped my face in her hands. "I love you. Have a good day, and be safe." She whispered. I gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"Of course." I looked over at Trammy and Gisa, who were both on their phones.

"Love you, too guys!" I said looking their way.

"Love you, Mare." They mumbled in unison, not bothering to look up from their screens. I rolled my eyes.

My phone suddenly buzzed, I looked down to see who it was.

Farley:
  U need a ride

I chuckled. Diana was probably my second best friend. After Kilorn, of course. She goes to Archeon too, but I have my suspicions. She says she got in because of her test scores, but I studied with her every Monday afternoon...

Let me just say, she did not get in on her scores alone.

                     Mare:
               Nah, I'm good. Thanks though.

See what I'm talking about?

I walked out the door, and grabbed my backpack on the way. I got in my car, and got to Archeon quicker than I expected, the school was about 3 miles away. I pulled up, and everyone immediately looked at me and started whispering.

Great, this is going to be one of those hella annoying, really cliche, high school movies. And here I thought academy would be more sophisticated.

I looked down to see if I had anything on my shirt. Nope, my red t-shirt and jeans were perfectly clean.

I spotted Diana across the parking lot, she was leaning on the railing of the totally necessary, huge staircase, leading up to the doors.

I jogged over to her, the stares faltering, just a little.

She was sitting next to a girl with dark brown hair, and honey skin. She had dark eyes, almost black, and her hair was in french pigtail braids.

"Mare, this is Cameron Cole. She's a new student like you." Farley said. "Cam, this is Mare Barrow."

I smiled at her, she seemed nice enough.

She returned my gesture with an eye roll.

"Whatever." She mumbled.

Farley chuckled. "That's my girl."

Suddenly, a low beeping tone sounded, before the intercom clicked on.

Wow. They don't even have bell like a normal school.

I watched as everyone shuffled in from the front, most of them talking to one another, or on their phones.

I pull out my schedule. I was still trying to figure out what my first class was, when...

"No, I swear. That's what he said. Elane! Shut UP!! Don't you think I'm right babe? I-"

Suddenly, someone smashed into me, leaving me sprawled on the the floor. I looked up and saw two girls with their faces twisted in shock. One of them had platinum blonde hair, and the other, a firey red. Blondie smirked.

"Walk much?" She chuckled. I sprang to my feet.

"Um, you bumped into me. I wasn't even walking. You-" Just then, I realized who was on Bitch Blonde's arm, his face contorted in shock.

"Cal?"

Hey y'all! Thank you so much, I'm going to TRY to update as much as I can (so PLZ stay with me😬) have a good day!
