a/n: sorry for the long wait but chapter 10 will be coming tomorrow ♡
Words couldn't describe how betrayed Sooyoung felt by her brother at that moment. Kuanlin had taken his men and left, leaving Sungwoon to give Sooyoung the address but he had a bit more to say after that turn of events. "Sooyoung, I promise you I didn't know he was gonna do that-"
"He fucking shot and kidnapped my best friend Sungwoon, I don't care right now!" She shouted in his face, wiping her tears away. "Give me that fucking address and get out of my face."
"Soo, I know you're mad at me but listen I can help both you and the triplets okay?" He quickly picked up a piece of scrap paper and pen which was lying on the coffee table and scribbled down a number. "Contact me on this number and I'll let you know what's going on on the inside while you figure out what you want to do. I'll help you, whatever it is."
As Sooyoung snatched the paper out of Sungwoon's hand and saw the apologetic look in his eyes, she was flooded with her childhood memories where it was just the two of them looking after each other. It suddenly dawned on her that her brother was really back and although she wanted to punch him instead she found herself attacking him with a hug. Sungwoon relaxed as he hugged her back, just as tightly and for a moment they both forgot the chaos going on around them and how they were on the opposite sides of it. The boy reluctantly let her go, backing towards the door. "I've gotta go but contact me on that number okay?"
Sooyoung nodded, feeling alone as she stood in the now empty apartment. There was a dent on the dining table from where she'd pushed Kuanlin and a blood stain by the front door. She sure as hell hoped that Joy didn't decide to do one of her surprise visits right now. Instead, someone else came through the front door. "Sooyoung hey, Jinsol left her phone in my car and- oh, are you crying?"
"Jungeun you should go home." Sooyoung said sadly, trying to usher the younger girl out of the door before she noticed anything but it was too late. Jungeun pointed to the red stain on the floor and then looked up to Sooyoung in suspicion. "Oh my god is that blood? Wait, I saw some dodgy looking guys coming from this way down the hall. I didn't think they had anything to do with you but..."
Exhausted from all the lying, Sooyoung decided to let Jungeun in and proceeded to explain everything to her, including the fact the triplets weren't related to them at all and they'd had a criminal hunting them down. She told every bit of what had happened up to the point of when Jinsol had gotten to the apartment but Sooyoung was unable to finish her story as Jungeun shot up in anger. "They what!? Fuck this, I'm calling the cops-"
"Jungeun, you can't! If they find out it'll get even worse because they- they shot her."
Jungeun's hand rose to cover her mouth in an attempt to conceal her expression but it didn't help as the tears left her eyes regardless. She paced across the room before looking back at Sooyoung, pain filling her eyes. "How could you let this happen?"
"Let it happen? Are you crazy Jungeun? What was I supposed to do? They had fucking guns!"
"Something! Anything! And now she could be dying locked in some psycho CEO's basement for fuck sake!"
"Calm down." Sooyoung said loudly, trying to gain some rationale. "Look, they know where we live now so I can't be here. And neither should you. I need to phone Haseul."
The dancer called Haseul's number and felt her heart drop as she heard Chaewon's voice on the other end, sounding like she'd just woken up. "H-hello?"
"Chae? What are you doing with Haseul's phone?"
"I was playing games on it in bed before I fell asleep. I would say I'm mad that you guys made me stay at this Vivi woman's apartment tonight but it's so much better than your place." Chaewon said honestly but the child grew worried as she heard Sooyoung laugh instead of say something along the lines of "You little shit" or "Maybe next time you can stay in Hell". It was kind of weirding her out. "Okay... hey is Auntie Sol there? I wanna show her a picture of this fish pond we saw in the park today, I know she'd really love it. I sent it to her phone but she's not replying."
