I sat in English class waiting for the teacher to stop talking, I don't think anyone was paying attention, some were chewing gum, some were whispering to their friends, some were asleep, and some were just zoned out.

"So, you're going to be paired up with someone in this class, you will not get to pick your partner" Miss Johnson said.

I heard a couple of groans and whines.

I don't think anyone likes to do partner projects, I know I don't, only with Thomas.

The teacher won't even let us near each other.

I sit in the way back, while he sits right at the front of the class.

The teacher had paired us once, but got an F on our projects.

He started to call out names who are gonna be paired.

I looked around to see who's left.

Then I saw ponyboy, reading a book in secret.

Please don't be him, please, please, please.

"Willow and ponyboy!" The teacher exclaimed.

I groaned.

He turned to look at me and gave me a small smile.

I looked away and sighed.

Once the teacher let us leave, I went up to Thomas.

"Did you see who I was paired with" I whispered.?

"Your boy crush," he said raising his eyebrows.

"No"

He looked behind me, "uh, see you at lunch" he said and ran out the door.

I sighed and grabbed my backpack.

"Hey"

I turned around.

"I'm not gonna bother you, I'm just gonna ask if you wanna do the project at my house or yours" he huffed.

"Uh mine, I guess" I muttered.

He nodded, got his backpack, and left the room.

"Wait!" I called after him.

He turned around.

"Uh, I wanted to apologize for lashing out at you yesterday," I said tugging on my sleeve.

"Oh," he said.

"I just really want to make the team, and -"

"I know, it's fine" he cut me off.

I gave him a small smile, while he returned one back.

"Well, we'll go to my house after school," I said shifting on my feet.

"Yeah"

"Bye," I said and walked to the cafeteria.
