That night, it was impossible for me to get warm since I was submerged in ice cold water. I already took a hot shower and changed into my night clothes. "You okay?" Theo asks. "Yeah, I'm fine, just tired." I reply and Theo stands up and walks towards me. "You still cold?" He asks and I nod my head. "What if I sleep with you tonight?" He says. "Yeah, that'll be fine." I reply and head to my bedroom and get into my bed and Theo follows and gets underneath the covers with me.
My breathing is kind of heavy and Theo puts a hand on my shoulder. I turn around to face him and he pushes the hair out of my face with his hand. "What are you thinking about? You scared? Nervous? Your heart is beating like crazy." Theo says. "Maybe." I say and sit up and pull open a drawer from my night stand and take out a book and hold it in front of me to where Theo can see it. "That's the book?" Theo asks and I nod my head. "Okay, we'll tell Scott tomorrow." Theo says. "Tell him?" I ask. "Yeah, so we could make copies and we could read it." Theo says and I sigh and place the book back in the drawer and close it. "I've already read it." I say. "The whole thing?" Theo asks and sits up besides me. "Half of it." I reply. "Okay that's fine, don't worry, maybe we should get some sleep." Theo says and we both lay down again. I face away from him and close my eyes and I feel his arms wrap around me, comforting me to the point that my worries just completely go away and I smile softly and feel my self drifting off to sleep.
A couple of hours goes by and I'm being woken up by Corey, he was shaking me awake. "Guys y'all have to wake up now, they're here." Corey explains in a rushed tone of voice. "Who's here?" Theo asks and props himself up on his elbows. "The dread doctors." Corey says and pulls me to a sitting position and I slide my sneakers on and stand up. "I hear them." I say as Theo hops off my bed and I open my drawer from my nightstand and pull out the book. "Hurry!" I call to the guys and I take a key from my window sill and unlock my window and slide my window up and we climb out. "How do we get down?" Corey asks. "We jump." Theo says grabbing both of us and forces us to jump off the roof and into a couple of bushes. I land on my ankle and scream out in pain.
Arms wrap around my waist and I look up to see Theo and I swing an arm over his shoulders as he helps me to run. "Where to?" Theo asks. "Scott's house, I messaged him and he says the front door will be unlocked." Corey says and we follow Corey to Scott's home. I look behind us and see the large shadows of the dread doctors. I hold the book against my chest and Theo continues to hold onto me helping me walk.
We reach Scott's house and burst through the front door which was unlocked. "Guys, over here." Scott says and we see him in the living room so Theo brings me to the couch and sits me down on it. "What did y'all do?" Scott asks. "They found us, we jumped out the window and Sierra hurt her ankle." Corey says out of breathe. "Can i see it?" Scott asks and I nod my head. He grabs my leg gently and placed it on his legs and looks at my ankle. I could see that my ankle was dislocated, there was a black and red bruise on it. "Sierra, close your eyes." Scott says and I close them and take hold of
Theo's arm besides me.
I feel Scott's hands on my ankle and I hold tighter onto Theo's arm. I feel my ankle pop back into place and I stifle a scream. "You can let go of my arm now." I hear Theo say from besides me and I turn to my head and look at his arm which was now dripping in blood since I had my claws out and they were inside of him. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry." I say and let go of him. "It's fine really, it'll heal." Theo says and I smile. "Your ankle should be fine now." Scott says as he gently takes my leg and place it back onto the ground. "Are they gone?" I asked and Corey looks out the window and then back at me "for now." Corey says. "Scott." I say and hold up the book in front of him. He takes it out of my hand and starts flipping through the pages. "This is it?" Scott asks and I nod my head and he hands it back to me. "We need to take it somewhere safe." Scott says. "Sierra, how much have you read of it?" Scott asks. "Just half of it, why?" I ask. "We need to all read it to find out how to destroy them." Scott says. "I don't think this book will tell us, there's only one volume." Theo says. "One book can tell us a lot." Scott says. "How do we all read it if there's only one book?" Corey asks. "We can print some paper copies, the school printers have a lot of ink." Theo suggests. "Okay, tomorrow we'll print them." Scott says and I nod my head. "But for now, I think my boss should hold onto this." Scott says. "I'm not finished reading it." I reply. "I know, but the only copy of the book that they want is in your hands, I think we should print one out for you too." Scott says. "Will this plan keep them away from my house? Away from us?" I ask. "I believe so." Scott says and I hand the book to him. "I'll give it to my boss tomorrow morning, he knows where to store it and how to keep it away from the dread doctors." Scott says and I stand up. "We should get going." Corey says and looks out the window again. "What time is it?" I ask. "Three in the morning." Corey replies. "Then yeah we should get back home." I say. "Thanks Scott, for helping us." I say. "Any time." Scott says. "Come on guys." Theo says. "Bye guys, y'all be safe, see y'all tomorrow." Scott says and waved to us as we step outside his house and close the door and begin to walk back to my house.
