Acalla P.O.V

Returning to the Night Court was a welcomed sight. Acalla thought the Summer Court was beautiful but the memories there would be a bit conflicted.

They had only been home for a single day when Cassian was screaming at Rhysand to let him go kill Tamlin.

"He killed my friend and you are protecting him?" Cassian hollered.

"No, just stopping you from starting a war," Rhysand said calmly.

Cassian huffed.

"Glanduil was my friend, corrupt as he was, he was an Illyrian General," Cassian said almost in tears.

A woman walked up behind him. Arms going around his waist. Cassian turned around, fell on his knees in front of her, and started crying.

She caressed his head.

"Tamlin killed him, I didn't even know how he died," Cassian said.

"I know," the woman said.

"Nesta, can you take Cassian back to your rooms?" Feyre said.

The woman, Nesta, nodded. She carefully lifted Cassian up and walked him out of the room.

Acalla had never thought the great General Cassian could cry. She had seen him get close when he had delivered the news to them, but he had held it together. Not in front of his family.

He felt comfortable enough in front of all of them to shed tears.

Suddenly there was a shout from down the hallway and a young child with black hair and blue-grey eyes appeared.

"Mom! Dad!" The boy said, walking down the hall.

Acalla realized this was the child, Nyx. Their child. He looked young but according to Azriel, he was almost 100 years old.

Nyx fell into Feyre and Rhysand's arms. It was beautiful to watch the family be reunited.

Acalla knew she wanted that one day, but it was still something she wasn't sure Azriel would want. Or be excited about should it happen.

She could only hope.

The male turned to look at her.

"Mom, who is that?" Nyx asked.

"That dear is Acalla, you're aunt," Feyre said.

Rhysand looked a bit surprised at that but didn't say anything. She hoped he didn't think she was trying to take Mor's place. She wasn't.

The boy walked to her and threw his arms around her neck.

"Hello, Auntie Acalla," Nyx said.

"Hello Nyx," she said.

The child had known her for five seconds and was already affectionate to her.

Oh, she was happy to be home.

He could see the look on Acalla's face while she watched Rhysand's family hugging.

It was envious. But not jealous. She wanted a family but not Rhys's.

He wanted a family with her too. He wanted one soon.

Azriel could judge that by the look on her face, they were thinking the same thing.
