Azriel P.O.V
Azriel knew that at some point he was going to have to talk to Cassian. He might have been happy for Az and the pregnancy but everyone could see that Cassian was still hurting.
It had been a couple of months since Cassian had been told of Glanduil's killer. He was still moping around. Azriel wondered when Cassian was going to accept this fact but he didn't see it happening soon.
Azriel was walking down to the training room one day after helping Acalla with her pregnancy cravings. They had gotten weirder in the last few weeks.
Pickles and ice cream. Chips and a special kind of hot sauce that he can only find on the other side of the city.
He was happy to go anywhere to find even her weirdest cravings.
Azriel was knocked out of his thoughts when he ran into a small figure. Elain. She had thrown out her hand to stop herself from falling.
"Oh Azriel," Elain said, "sorry to run into you. Have you seen Nesta?"
"No," Azriel replied.
Elain looked disappointed at his answer. Her hand was still on his arm.
"I really need to talk to her," Elain said looking back up at him.
"Well if I see her, I will send her your way," Azriel said trying to get out of the conversation.
"Thank you," Elain said, "Why do you think she is ignoring me so much?"
Azriel tried to hold in his groan of annoyance. He knew that the young girl just needed someone, apparently anyone, to listen to her. Even if it was Azriel. Who was notorious for not being a good listener.
"I'm not sure," Azriel replied.
"I just really want to talk to her, maybe try and make things right," Elain said, finally taking her hand off his arm.
Azriel guessed that she somehow saw the annoyance on his face because she gave him a sympathetic look and walked away.
Azriel took a deep breath and continued on his way to Cassian's door. He had barely lifted his hand up to knock when Cassian flung the door open.
"Yes?" Cassian huffed.
"I was coming to talk to you," Az said not sure how to broach the subject of Cassian quitting his moping.
"That much was clear. About what?" Cassian asked.
"Acalla is concerned about whether her trainer is ever going to come back and the rest of us are concerned that you are never going to stop moping. It has been weeks since you found out about Glanduil's killer but not his death," Azriel said just going for it, "he died some time ago, that is not to say that his death is any less horrible, but you being so depressed about it is dramatic."
Azriel hoped he hadn't been too blunt. He just didn't want Cassian to go through the same cycle he had when Glanduil originally died.
It had been months before Cassian would talk to them. It had hurt everyone to see Cassian be like that and to have to witness it again. Azriel did not want to think about what it would do to anyone. Least of all Cassian.
"I am not being overly depressed," Cassian started, "he was my friend. Acalla will have her trainer back when he is good and ready to come back but from what I've heard you have taken over the position well so maybe you should continue it. Now would you be so kind as to maybe worry more about your pregnant wife and less about me?"
Cassian then slammed the door in Azriel's face.
Azriel sighed. Cassian had been a lot worse during the first time, but that didn't make this any easier on anyone. Cassian had said a lot that he hadn't meant and had long since apologized.
