Azriel P.O.V

Uriah walked over to the cell where Acalla was standing. He didn't know why but he had a sudden urge of anger at Uriah being anywhere near Acalla.

He would have to get over that. Especially since he had no idea where it had come from.

The girl, Nericlia (nary-clee-a), watched Azriel as she walked over. She was more like a child. She looked to be no more than 50 years old.

Azriel looked over at Acalla to see her frowning at the girl. Nericlia was shaking as she beheld the look Acalla was giving her.

"Now, Nericlia, please explain what happened for us," Uriah asked quite too politely for Azriel not to notice it.

"Truthfully," Azriel added flashing Truth Teller.

He saw her eyes widen. Good. Let her be scared of lying to the High Lord. Let her be scared of him.

"My Lord," she started, "I was doing my usual rounds through the kitchen when I saw a pan start to catch fire. I ran over to help put the fire out but as soon as I ran over Acalla was there running over to it as well. She cursed and shot water out of her hands."

Azriel turned to the girl, Nericlia, and was shocked but did not allow that emotion to appear on his face.

"No female has ever shown signs of the killing power," Azriel said quietly.

The child started to look towards Uriah, maybe for protection or maybe for affirmation, Azriel didn't know.

"With that in mind, I want you to be very sure of your answer. I do not think the High Lord will find this joke to be funny. And if it is a joke then I will direct him straight towards you," Azriel finished.

"No my Lord it is not a joke, I saw it with my very own eyes, Acalla shot water out of her hands. She should be executed. She is a safety hazard to this whole camp," the girl said with a newfound confidence that Azriel found very conceited.

Uriah nodded his head to Nercilia. They must have come up with that little performance. Probably on the way over here. What other lies had Uriah told her to tell?

He wanted to sit Uriah down and cut him up until he confessed to it all, but he didn't have that kind of time.

Uriah started talking about how Nericlia was right. Acalla endangered everyone in the camp. But Azriel couldn't really hear him.

The feeling was back.

But this time it was stronger. The feeling to kill anyone who even looked at Acalla. It didn't make any sense. He barely even knew her. He had met her once. They had stood next to each other for maybe five minutes. He hadn't seen her since.

Maybe it was her father. His connection to him. Maybe that was causing all these feelings.

He was pulled back to the moment by Uriah finishing up his speech about how he agreed with Nericlia.

He didn't know what to do. Damn, he kind of wished he had been listening.

He gave a very slow nod. He then dismissed her and Uriah with a wave, then turned to Acalla.

"So," he started, but had to stop for the rush of feeling from a bond he didn't know would ever exist.

She must have felt it too because she had the same wide-eyed stare as he did.

"Mate," was all he said.

Well, that explained what that feeling was.

The mating bond. Well fuck.

There went his plan. He couldn't have her executed now. Not when she is his mate. Unless he wanted to experience unmeasurable amounts of pain.

He was going to have to find a way of getting her out of here. Alive.

Maybe Rhysand would have the answers.

This one is shorter, I don't know why, but THEY ARE MATES.

I updated this chapter a little. So it is a little longer but not much. But I hope you all enjoyed it. Thank you so much for the continued love and support for this book. I love you guys.

I updated it again, but not that much. These first chapters don't need as much updating.
