Acalla P.O.V

Naexi grew with each passing day, making Acalla wish she could just stop time. Feyre said she had felt the exact same way with Nyx.

Nyx came to Acalla's room whenever he could to check on Naexi. He had already proclaimed that Naexi was to be his best friend.

Acalla could only laugh at the boy's remarks. Nyx would protect her, always protect her.

Acalla could see the children now, in her head: courting and dancing. She wasn't sure how she knew, but she did. Naexi and Nyx were mates.

It was a scary thing, to know who your child would spend the rest of their existence with when they had only been born mere weeks ago.

But maybe it was a blessing, for Acalla knew that Naexi would be in good hands with Nyx. It was evident in the way he held her when Acalla needed to make dinner or something.

It was evident in the way Nyx spent more time with Acalla and Naexi than Feyre and maybe even Azriel.

Acalla hadn't told Az yet, and probably wouldn't for some time. Over-protective father could wait for a little while longer. Nyx was a helping hand when she needed it most.

He was currently sitting in the kitchen, holding Naexi while Acalla prepared her breast for feeding. Trying to combat the pain that was breast-feeding. Although, Feyre said she only had to feed Nyx like this for a month before he was ready to start eating soft foods.

Teeth would start growing in about three months and by the end of the first year, Naexi would be walking. Illyrian babies grew much quicker than even Fae babies.

Almost being able to start training by the age of three. It was frightening but traditional that a child has his first lesson with his father. Girl or boy now. So, Acalla would have to grimace from the side as her daughter started learning how to fight in just a few short years.

Acalla had never been through that with her father. Myrian had said she should count it as a blessing since their father was an ass in and out of the training rink.

She was starting to believe him. If only because she didn't really want to watch her daughter.

Naexi started to let out short screams, pulling Acalla out of her journey to the future. Acalla walked over to Nyx who was trying to rock the baby for comfort.

"I'll take her, she is hungry," Acalla said pulling the girl out of Nyx's arms.

"I'll go find a book to read while you feed her," Nyx said before nearly bolting out of the room.

Acalla let out a little chuckle. He was always so awkward about this part.

She took Naexi over to the couch and start feeding her. She felt her face wince a little at the slight pain in her breast but eventually, the pain went away.

After about twenty minutes, Naexi was fast asleep in her mother's arms. Acalla got off the couch and took the girl to her nest of blankets on Acalla's bed. She laid her down and closed the door.

Giving her daughter her nap allowed Acalla to do something as well.

Like, start on dinner. Dinner meant that she could work on her power. In the weeks since the birth, Acalla hadn't had the time to have an actual lesson with Rhysand.

When Rhys was here to help Azriel he would sometimes give her a mini-lesson. Usually, while she was making dinner.

Dinner required water and fire. Sometimes it required her to make things come to her. She never walked, always trying to winnow.
