Hi! First off, I'd like to thank you, the reader, for choosing to read this, even if you don't make it past the first few chapters! I'm pretty new at writing fanfics so this is a huge step for me but I'm pretty proud of what I've been working on and I hope you enjoy it. 😇😇

I realize not a lot of people have played the video game Cyberpunk 2077 or are not entirely sure of the cyberpunk genre, so I have collected some terms with their definitions to help give an understanding of the one shots. Most of these were copied and pasted from the Cyberpunk Wiki Fandom. Feel free to skip this chapter or come back if you need a refresher.

Cyberpunk - A genre of science fiction set in a lawless subculture of an oppressive society dominated by computer technology.

Night City - The setting for our story. In Cyberpunk 2077 it is an autonomous city located on the border between North and South California, on the Pacific coast of North America. It is considered a modern multicultural and thriving metropolis of the 21st-century, overrun by corporations, corruption, organized crime and gang violence.

Fixer - Fixers are the well-connected fencers, smugglers, and information brokers who apply their trade on the black market. As they are so well-connected to comings and going on the streets, they can locate, acquire and know about a desired person, place or thing within their area of operation.

Mercenary (Merc) - Hired assassins, bodyguards, killers, soldiers, technicians, netrunners. Mercenaries, commonly known as Mercs, are hired people that work for clients to do any kind of job. They usually work with fixers as their middle men.

Netrunner - Netrunners are the types of savvy computer hackers you would find in the movie Hackers, but with a cybernetically augmented interface system implanted into their body. Using their brain-computer interface implants, they roam the Internet, looking for systems to hack and information to sell to fixers.

Ripperdoc - A ripperdoc lies between a surgeon, techie and tattoo artist. If you're lucky, you pay them a visit to get yourself chipped with the latest implant on the market because you can afford it. If you're unlucky, a friend will drop you off at their clinic in pieces and hopefully they can put you back together.

Eddies - The slang term for money.

Badlands - The Badlands is a region that few Night Citizens willingly venture out into, save for the hardy nomads, who crossed the desert in their huge and well-protected caravans. These vast plains outside of Night City make the metropolis look more glamorous in comparison. However, there's still life and golden opportunities out there.

Nomad - Residents of the Badlands outside Night City.

AI - Artificial Intelligence; a computer with full self-awareness.

Samurai - A Corporate assassin or mercenary, hired to protect Corporation property or make strikes against other Corporate holdings.

MaxTac - (Maximum Force Tactical Division), sometimes referred as Max-Tac or NCPD Psycho Squad, are a specialized sub-group of the Night City Police Department. As a cybersquad, MaxTac specializes in dealing with cyberpsychos.

Cyberpsychosis - Cyberpsychosis is a mental illness, specifically a dissociative disorder, caused by an overload of cybernetic augmentations to the body.

Cyberpsycho - Those afflicted with cyberpsychosis are known as cyberpsychos, those who have existing psychopathic tendencies, enhanced by cybernetics, and as a result have lost their sense of identity as a person, either to themselves or others.

Datashard - Commonly abbreviated to shard, is an item in Cyberpunk 2077, which can contain various forms of information, including: text, images, maps, schematics, audio, videos and braindances.

Braindance - Commonly abbreviated to BD, is an immersive virtual reality and sonic complexity. Braindances enjoy wide use in the Cyberpunk world. They are most often used for entertainment (the new version of video games/TV/movies/breakbeats, or types of entertainment that combine them together). They are also used heavily in psychology (they are a core part of the therapy used to treat Cyberpsychosis).

Rockerboy/Rockergirl - Rockerboys are rebellious musicians who use music and revolt to fight authority. Because they are so charismatic, they can sway, incite and charm a large number of people through musical performances.
