Chapter 23: Stepped On My Moment

Kumiko invited the couple to go to a dance with her and a friend. They gladly accepted the invitation and the girls went to Kumiko's house to put their outfits together. She gave Rosalía a jacket for Daniel to wear as well, and Rosalía excitedly ran back to Miyagi's house to give it to her boyfriend. "Hey, guys!" she greets when she reaches the dojo. Mr. Miyagi and Daniel look back at her and return the greeting. "Aye, look at what I got," she continues, holding up the jacket. "Dance clothes! For you," she concludes. Daniel chuckles, loving the pure excitement in her voice and face.

"Miyagi!... Miyagi!"

Everyone's faces drop when they hear the screams. Mr. Miyagi exits the dojo, followed by Daniel. He and his girlfriend exchange a concerned glance before he walks away. Rosalía quickly follows after them and they head outside to see Chozen with two of his henchmen. "Come on! We waiting for you," he shouts. They walk through the gate and stand a few feet in front of the men. "My uncle say your three days mourning over. I have been sent to get you," he spits. "Tell uncle I am farmer, not fighter," Mr. Miyagi claims.

This angers Chozen, leading him to yell an order at his henchmen. The three of them start destroying the crops behind them, making Rosalía gasp. Daniel steps forward to intervene but Miyagi holds his hand up to stop him. Rich people love to ruin lives, Rosalía thinks. She feels so useless as she watches them destroy the plants, she has no idea what to do. She looks at Daniel and he stares back with a torn-up look. He's thinking the same thing. He wants to help so bad but doesn't know how to.

*Time skip*

After Chozen and his minions leave, Mr. Miyagi gets dressed up to go talk to Sato. The two teens stay behind, just hoping that the two older men can sort out this mess. Rosalía sighs as she sits down on a bench, leaning her elbows on her knees. "You okay?" Daniel questions, sitting next to her. She slowly nods. "Yeah, it's just... the privilege you must have to easily just destroy someone else's hard work, work that earns them their money, without having to think twice," she voices. She shakes her head and releases a bitter laugh. "Some people really have nothing but the audacity... you know, if I was rich, I would not act like that. I'd give back to the community, not destroy it. I mean, I grew up in the ghetto, I've seen how my parents struggle!" she rants.
