Y/n was in his office. He was looking over some paperwork. He heard his scroll go off.
He looked at it, it was a text from Cinder. Saying that Salem wanted to see him.
He had a bit of concern. He left and went to Salem's throne room.
He grew more concerned when it was just him and Salem.
Y/n: You asked for me mistress?
Salem: Indeed I did.
She got up out of her throne.
Salem: Come with me.
She walked past Y/n and he followed.
Salem: I suppose you've been taking care of you're two pets?
Y/n: I never let anything happen to those I hold close. You know this.
Salem: Are they close to you? Or do you just like the feeling of being loved?
Y/n: That's the same thing isn't it?
Salem: Not entirely. I know you better than you think Y/n. You were so desperate for acceptance that you could be molded in anyway I wanted you to. You were lucky that I came across you and not someone worse. You know what that kind of attention seeking can lead to.
Y/n stayed silent.
Salem: You've seen first hand what happens to unfortunate souls that stumble upon the wrong person. You know what one-sided love can put someone into.
Y/n continued his silence.
Salem: I remember the only time I saw a sense of humanity in you're methods. Even if that shred of humanity lead to a mass grave.
Y/n: It was a bloody night.
Salem: The people you saved along with the bodies you buried, I think it evened out.
Y/n: Most of them will probably end up in my ranks one of these days.
Salem: It wouldn't surprise me. I have a question for you.
Y/n: Okay.
Salem: What do you see me as? On a personal level.
Y/n: Um....
Salem: There is no wrong answer don't worry.
Y/n: I suppose, you're like a mother to me.
Salem: How so?
Y/n: You took me in and built the foundation for who I am now. My organization would be nothing without you're nest egg for me to build on. You introduced me to the underworld and got me familiar with it.
Salem: Then you met Bo and from there, things took off.
Y/n: I'm surprised you remember Bo.
Salem: I couldn't forget you're former right hand man. Besides, his story is like a fairy tale. Betrayed by his friends, found by a different group, gets revenge, stays loyal to the ones that helped him. Something special.
Y/n: Yes. Then he volunteered to be the leader of the first puppet gang, to be the example. To be my fist.
Salem: It's been a while since then. You have grown much since then.
They walked into the room with a pool table.
Salem: Care for a game?
Y/n: I never knew you played.
Salem: I have many talents. You don't live as long as I have without some.
Y/n: I guess that's fair.
They began their game.
Salem: I know of the little competition between you and Cinder. To see who will be my right hand.
Y/n: I suppose that'd be hard to hide.
Salem: Can I tell you a little secret?
Y/n looked at her confused.
Salem: Cinder is no long term leader. She's much like a pawn, one you get to the other side of the board, but promote to a rook instead of a queen. But a rook can't move quite like a queen. Requires brute force. Watts is like a bishop, think around the problem. But isn't good for much else. Tyrain is like a knight, jumping around without a care.
Y/n: And what am I then?
Salem: Depends on what organization. You're organization, you are a king. Without you, chaos would be the outcome. But in my little shadow empire, I would make you somewhat like the queen. You move in every direction and manage much.
Y/n: I see. So you always planned to make me second in command?
Salem: Yes. Cinder has her uses. But she isn't the kind to be a long term leader. Besides, she hasn't grown herself an empire like you had. I gave her the same thing I gave you. And you built something she could only imagine. You have an army, while she struggles to keep a hold on her little group.
Y/n: I suppose when you put it like that, you have a point.
Salem sinks the eight ball. Ending the game.
Salem: Looks like I win.
Y/n: Darn.
Salem: I think I'll take my prize now.
Y/n: We were betting something?
Salem: Not verbally. But I promise you will enjoy what I have in store for you. I'm not taking anything in reality. But you are giving me something.
Y/n: I'm afraid I don't follow.
Salem: I'm sure you can figure it out. Come along.
Y/n followed Salem.
He was in an unfamiliar area of the castle.
Y/n: I've never been here before.
Salem: Only I come down this hall. Only I have reasons to.
They went to a door. Salem opened it and it revealed a bedroom.
Y/n: I'm surprised there is even one here. I didn't even know you slept.
Salem: I see where you'd get that impression. Don't be shy, come in.
Y/n entered.
Salem: I must be a old lady to you.
Y/n: And yet you look exactly the same. To every detail.
Salem: Perk of being immortal. But I guess I'm an old lady to anyone. Sit on the bed.
Y/n sat down.
Salem: I understand why you do what you do Y/n. I understand the need for acceptance.
Salem approaches Y/n. From the look of it. Y/n is catching on to exactly what Salem wants.
Salem practically jumps on him and pins him down on the bed.
Salem: Care to oblige me tonight?
Y/n: By all means. Go right ahead.
