chapter 11

Y/n  wakes up.  He looks to see the girls clinging to him. He could feel their light breathing on his sides.   

He didn't want to wake them. But he had to get up.  He carefully got up and walked out of the room.  

He managed to make it to his office without waking the girls up. He sat down and got to work.  Checking his emails for anything.  

He heard a knock on the door.

Y/n: Come in.

Emerald opened the door and entered. 

Y/n: Ah. What can I help you with?

Emerald: I had a few questions..

Y/n: And I have a few answers.

Emerald: It's mostly about you and Cinder.

Y/n: Go on.

Emerald: What is the relationship between you two in reality?

Y/n: Depends.  We work together well enough, sure we're at each other's throats from time to time. But we haven't tried to kill one another.  

Emerald: Why is that?

Y/n: Because, the only way you can improve is to have someone to push against. Punching the air doesn't get you better. Punching a person does.  Imagine trying to be a pickpocket, with no pockets to pick.

Emerald: I understand. 

Y/n: Anything else?

Emerald: How do you keep everyone in line?

Y/n: That's easy enough, just don't give them a reason to stab you in the back.   Treat them like family, if someone kills one of you're men, kill twenty of theirs.    Everyone is worth more than they actually are.  

Emerald: I suppose that's fair. 

Y/n: Tell me something Emerald. What is your true intentions?

Emerald: I don't know what you mean?

Y/n: I think you do.  You strike me as more of a timid person to the higher ranking officers. Am I wrong?

Emerald stayed silent.

Y/n: However towards your equals like Mercury, you're a different person, correct?

Emerald: In a sense. 

Y/n: It doesn't take much to know a person, but to understand them. That takes time and effort.

Emerald: Are you saying that you want to "understand" me? 

Y/n: You make it sound like I'm flirting with you.

Emerald: Are you?

Y/n: You can ask Cinder how I am when I'm flirty.  

Emerald: Wait. You flirted with Cinder?

Y/n: Mostly just for fun, not meaning anything by it.  It's funny to see the look on her face when I catch her off guard. 

Emerald: That didn't answer my question.

Y/n:  *chuckle* I'll leave it up to you. 

At that point there was another knock at the door.

Y/n: Come in. 

Cinder opened the door and Titus followed her in.

Cinder: Emerald. Fancy seeing you here.

Emerald: I was just asking Y/n some questions.

Cinder: What kind of questions?

Y/n: The ones that don't concern you.

Cinder: Y/n. You know I don't like turncoats 

Y/n: Not my problem.  You have no trust in you're own subordinates.   That wasn't even a part of the discussion.

Cinder: I can never be too careful with you.

Titus: Anyway. 

Y/n: I'm sorry Titus, what did you need?

Titus: My men found someone Intresting you might want to check out.

Y/n: And why is that?

Titus: It's hard to explain.

Y/n: Very well.   *gets up* 

Y/n followed Titus.  

Y/n and Titus got into a car.

Titus: Sorry boss. Didn't want to speak of it too much in front of Cinder.

Y/n: That's okay.

Titus: Anyway, we found a little girl who seems to have an unstable semblance.

Y/n: In what way?

Titus: Her semblance seems to cause corrosion to anything she touches while in distress.  

Y/n: Any casualties?

Titus: No.  We don't know what to do with her. Figured since...you know?

Y/n: My semblance is also unstable.

Titus: Yeah.    

Y/n: I guess it wouldn't hurt to see what I can do.

They drove to where they had the girl basically cornered.  

Y/n walked past Titus's men and towards the girl who looked at him terrified.

Girl: Stay away!

Y/n: It's okay little one, I'm not going to hurt you.  

Girl: No! You don't understand, I can't touch anyone! If I do...they'll get hurt!

Y/n: And why is that?

Girl: If I touch someone, they die.  

Y/n: I see.  Just calm down.  

Y/n approached slowly, then had an idea. 

Y/n: Gloves! Someone fetch me a pair of gloves!

One of Titus's men tossed Y/n a pair of gloves.

Y/n: These might be a little big for ya, but they should work. 

Y/n tossed the kid the gloves. She looked at them before putting them on.

Y/n approached and picked up the child.  She looked at him with confusion, then with amazement. 

Y/n: See? All better.

Y/n walked the girl back towards the group. 

Y/n: What's  is you're name kid?

?: Alicina.

Y/n: My name is Y/n.    Is there anywhere you can go?

Alicina shook her head.

Y/n: Well then. Guess I'll just have to take care of ya then.  

Titus: Sir?  Are you sure?

Y/n: Why not? Always wondered if I'd be a good dad, why not start now?

Titus: If you say so.

Y/n took Alicina back to HQ.  He instructed his men to get a little room set up for her.  

This would start a change of pace for Y/n.   But the light is still far from his grasp.  Evil will forever taint his soul.
