CHAPTER SEVENTEEN:
TAKE HYDRA DOWN"SO, SHE'S ALIVE." THIS WAS the first thing that Blake commented as soon as he saw Sage enter the building. The three had been sitting there, waiting, wondering whether or not Sage would actually make it out of that place. Blake stood up, his arms crossed over his chest as he looked at the woman. "What the hell was that, Daniels?"
"Does it matter?" Sage questioned, her jaw clenched as she narrowed her eyes at the man. "She's dead." The lie came so quickly, so naturally, and Sage had never realized how well of a liar that she truly was until that moment. Sage looked at the three only to see surprised looks on her face. She glared. "Why do you all look so damn surprised?"
"I'm curious about this too." Beatrix made her way down the hall, her red hair hitting her shoulders as she grew closer until she stopped right beside of Sage. The group all looked at the woman who had a proud smile on her face as she looked at Sage before turning to look at the other three. "Sage has done what she was told to do, she has eliminated her target successfully, something none of you have been able to do in what seems like weeks. She did what she had to do, even it that meant it had to seem like she was betraying you."
"Sage is the reason why we'll be successful. We're fixing the world, clearing it of the poison that S.H.I.E.L.D. has inflected upon it. And she has brought us one step closer to being able to do that." Beatrix glared at the three. "Follow her example." Beatrix started walking away, not even looking back at the group as she called out to them, "You all did well today."
They waited until Beatrix was out of the picture before they all found themselves relaxing. Roxanne sighed, shaking her head. "God, I hate that woman."
"Don't we all." Sage smiled. "Alright, Malia you and I have training in the morning so be ready for that." Malia nodded her head and Sage offered the teenager a gentle smile to which Malia returned before Sage watched as Roxanne stood up and walked over to her, the two women walking away from the Young siblings and towards the training area.
"Alright, what aren't you telling me?" Roxanne immediately questioned, glancing around before remembering this is the one room that didn't have a camera simply because Roxanne had ripped it out herself and told Beatrix that they needed at least one room of privacy that wasn't their bedrooms.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." Sage denied, pulling her up into a pony tail as she looked at the woman who was her closest friend. Roxanne placed her hands on her hips as she raised her eyebrows. Sage sighed before nodding her head. "Fine." She came closer to Roxanne like she was about to tell the woman a secret―︎which she was. "Agent Hill isn't dead. She is very much alive."
"So you did grow a soft spot for her." Roxanne smirked and Sage glared at the woman before engaging in their training and sending a kick towards the female who was quick to dodge it. They continued to send hits back and forth towards one another whilst keeping up their conversation.
"She wants me to join them." Sage spoke. "Help take HYDRA down."
"Are you willing to do it?" Roxanne questioned.
"I don't know." Sage answered, quickly kicking Roxanne's feet out from under her and sending the woman to the ground, pinning her to the mat. "I still have her number from being undercover, and she said she wouldn't do anything without my permission."
"Ooh, I think someone likes you too." Roxanne smiled and Sage just rolled her eyes before pulling her up from the ground.
"I don't know what to do." Sage sighed. "My only goal is to keep Malia safe. And she's not safe here, but Blake refuses to see or believe that. What do you think?"
Roxanne stood there for a moment, pursing her lips and not a second later she nodded her head. "Do it." This took Sage by Surprise. "Do whatever the fuck you have to do, and I'll make sure to watch your back. This place is a hellhole, I couldn't escape so maybe you can."
"I'm not leaving you here in the rubble of this place." Sage denied with a frown. "Roxy, you're my best friend. You're the reason I've been able to survive. If I do this, you have to come with me."
"I'll help you." Roxanne nodded. "Hell, I'm even on your side. And I will fight with you, and I will stay in contact with you. I'll just be here, undercover, letting you know when and when not to be worried."
"Well, when it comes to HYDRA you always have to be worried." Sage scoffed and Roxanne chuckled as she nodded her head.
"That is true." Roxanne nodded. "You just tell me the plan, and we'll get done what needs to be done."
Sage bit the inside of her cheek before nodding her head. "I got to make a call." With that the girl walked out of the room and towards her bedroom. She entered her room, locking the door behind of her before walking over to her dresser and grabbing her phone that was sitting on top of her dresser. She held the phone in her hand, looking at Maria's contact number before closing her eyes as sigh fell from her lips before calling her.
She waited for three rings before the sound of Maria's voice filled her ears. "Sage?"
Sage looked at herself through her mirror before nodding her head. "Alright, so what's the plan?"
