CHAPTER FOURTEEN:
GET THE JOB DONE

THEY SPLIT UP. SAGE AND Malia went one way whilst Blake and Roxanne went the other. Guards surrounded the area, walking back and forth with guns in their hands. The two stayed hidden in the shadows, staying close with one another as they tried to find where this serum could be. There was no way that they could go any further without getting caught. Sage sighed before looking towards Malia, nodding for her to go back the way they came.

They quickly and quietly made their way out into the hallway, so that their voice wouldn't carry into the ears of one of the shoulders and so that the two could be alone whilst they talked, trying to find a way to figure out what they could do in order to get passed the guards, and quite frankly, Sage didn't like the plan.

"What?" Malia sighed, looking up at the woman with narrowed eyes. She didn't like it when Sage was anxious. Sage was the calm one of the group, the one that always knew what to do and how to get in and out of things so fast no one would ever know they were there. Malia knew that's why she was the favorite, because she knew how to get things done, and she knew how to make Beatrix the most happiest person on the planet. "I don't like that look."

     "What look?" Sage frowned.

"That look that you have no clue what the hell to do." Malia whispered, her arms crossed over her chest.

     "I don't have that look."

"You have that look." Malia shot back.

"Fine, I have that look." Sage huffed. "I have a plan, I just don't like it."

"You never not like your own plans." Malia frowned. "What is it?"

"It's bad." Sage sighed. Malia impatiently rose an eyebrow at the woman making Sage sigh in defeat. "I'm going to have to steal one of the uniforms, but you're too young to pass as one of them, so you're either going to have to go find Roxie and your brother or go back. I don't want you walking around this place all on your own."

Malia pursed her lips for a moment as she looked at Sage, shrugging her shoulders. "I'll be okay. I know how to get around."

     "Malia. . ."

"Don't worry about me, Sage." Malia assured, offering the woman a small smile. "I get around just fine."

"I'm not leaving you in this place." Sage argued.

"Sage, get the job done." Malia sternly told her, and before Sage could say anything else, Malia was turning on her heel and running away from her. Sage watched her go, cursing under her breath and taking a moment to imagine the many curse words Blake would be yelling towards her once he found out she had left his little sister to run around in this unknown territory by herself. But Sage trusted Malia, and she knew that the teenager knew what she was doing, so with a reluctant sigh, she turned on her heel, and entering the room filled with agents once more. She stood in the shadows, for a moment, waiting for the right opportunity before grabbing onto one of the passing guards.

She quickly snapped her neck, gabbing the woman before she could fall to the ground. She pulled her from the sight of anyone, making sure she was hidden and wouldn't be found before Sage forced herself to pull on the woman's outfit, throwing her into a sloppy bun as she placed the hat onto her head. She grabbed the woman's gun, placing it in her hands as she sighed. "Please work."

She walked through the building, go noticed so far. She kept her eyes constantly moving, narrowing them as she tried to find the possible place that the serum could be. She looked high and low, occasionally nodding towards the soldiers that would walk by her as she blended in. And then she noticed it. The glass room on the top floor that had more guards surrounding it than anything else, and immediately she knew that was it. She fixed the gun in her hands before casually making her way up the steps.

"Gentlemen." Sage greeted them. "I'm here to relieve you."

"Four guards must be here at all costs." One of the men responded.

"Do you not think I can protect this?" Sage challenged. "Darling I could do more than your mind could ever think of."

He smirked slightly. "Oh, I'm sure you could."

"Would three suffice?" The voice of Roxanne appeared, making Sage turn her head to see Blake and Roxanne standing behind her. Roxanne glared at them, and reluctantly, the guards walked away allowing the other three to take their place. They stood there for a moment and Sage sighed anxiously.

     "Where's Malia?" Sage muttered.

"She's not with you?" Blake questioned.

"No, we had to go our separate ways."

"Really, Sage? You lost my sister?" Blake hissed.

"She didn't lose me." Malia rolled her eyes, making her way towards them, immediately  Sage let out a breath of relief. "I told you I knew what I was doing. Is this it?"

"Yeah, it has to be." Sage nodded her head. "This had four guards instead of the usual one to two."

"Let's get this over with, yeah?" Roxanne sighed and the other three nodded in agreement. Sage went to turn around in order to go into the glass room, however she forced herself to turn back around when gunshots went off. And before they knew it, it was a warzone, and the four were forced to be roped into it. They killed as many agents as they could, sharing a look with each other when they realized that S.H.I.E.L.D. had arrived on scene, looking for the same thing they were. It all happened so fast. One second Sage and Malia were running with Blake and Roxanne going the other way, the next second she was stopping and letting out a pained cry. And before she knew it, she was being knocked out, and taken away.
