Part 88: Grief

Darryl stared down at the ground, teardrops forming in his eyes. "Oh... oh.."

Flare made it out of the tunnel and growled.

He didn't see anything in sight, just a bunch of mini craters from the boulders he flung.

The two were trying to keep Darryl still.

"No, I gotta go back!" Darryl said.

Techno held his arms pinned back.

-Don't ask how Techno doesn't hurt his wings-

"Please! No..!" Darryl cried, with tears pouring down his cheeks. "No.. No..."

They were in a safer place, away from Flare.

It seemed as though they were in some kind of abandoned amusement park. It was unexpected on how most of the buildings are still mostly in tact.

"No.." Darryl sniveled. "Geppy...!"

I know how hard it is.. Dream thought. I know.. The same as me. Just that you didn't cause the deaths.. I know exactly how you feel.

"I have.. to g-o back.." Darryl bent down to the floor until he was on his knees.

"Shh, sh." Techno stroked the demon's hair, trying to keep him quiet.

Darryl lifted his shoulder and wiped his tears with it.

-Why did it autocorrect to rear? LMAO-

"Darryl, it's okay." Dream crouched down in front of him.

"No it's not okay!" Darryl hugged his knees. "Geppy's gone.."

-Reference to "Roberto died"-

He slowly rocked back and forth, closing his eyes shut and leaning his head against his knees.

"Hey, we need to go." Techno said.

"Techno. I think we should look around and give him time to cool down." Dream suggested.

Techno stared at him, then glanced down at the demon. "..Sure, okay."

A few minutes passed and Flare seemed to be gone for a while.

Darryl was sitting on a step, his legs hanging down. He stared down, in a grieving phase.

"Dun dun. Dun dun dun.." Dream dramatically hummed music as he pretended to make a dinosaur figurine he found sneak up on Techno. "I'm gonna eat chu~"

"That's a herbivore." Techno said.

"You look like a pretty blossom tree~" Dream said. He poked Techno's hair with the figurine's snout. "Nom nom."

Darryl sighed. I wish you didn't sacrifice yourself.. We could have fun like them.. If anyone were to disappear it should have been me.

He heard Dream laugh, with Techno's small chuckle in the background. But all he saw was him and Skeppy.

"Okay, you child. Let's get serious here." Techno said.

"Alright, alright, Piglet." Dream said. "Bet little Charlie is waiting for me..~"

"Mhm sure." Techno sarcastically said.

Techno eyed Darryl. The demon just sat there, alone.

"He's still grieving.." Techno muttered. "Usually most demons get over it in a matter of a minute or two."
