«Zimal x Romessa»

******

It was the next morning. They were
on the breakfast table at 7 as usual. And there was that awkward silence between the two of them that needed to be vanished somehow.

"Here" nano saw her reaching out for something on the table so she passed her that herself.

"Are you, okay Nano Amma?" And this was not her nano this time, it was her. She knew there was something wrong when she noticed her declining the call of her friend which was also their neighbour. Her grandma was a very active lady even after being in her 70's. And zimal was the opposite, she would beg zimal to socialize and she wouldn't. She didn't like people, she couldn't believe people. They were suffocating, apart from some.

"Do you even care? Bas jao tum apne cafe, why would you care about this old granny now? You're a big girl after all, what you've been wanting to be all your life."

Zimal slid her plate away. She knew how she even swallowed that last bite. Yes, she wanted to grow up, so bad. But never in a way she had grown up. She wanted to become an independent, pretty woman just like her mother. Her mother, she couldn't think ahead. She pulled herself out of the suckhole that she clearly couldn't afford being in at the moment.

And pretty? Was she pretty? She did not like mirrors, didn't even like dressing up like other girls, how would she even know that. Zimal tried breaking the chain of her thoughts and register what her Nano amma just said.

"Nano what you want me to do? Tell me, i will do." Zimal wanted her to come straight to the point.

Nano looked at her with those dramatic eyes. She read her granddaughter's eyes, there was nothing. She knew she could finally begin.

"Why don't you take care of yourself zimal?" She began keeping her pace slow.

"Why can't you be like the girls of your age, hun?" Zimal was constantly looking at her wrinkled hands while listening to her as she couldn't look her in the eye. And nano noticed that she's just listening to listen not to get her point and what she was trying to say which pissed nano a bit.
