"I still don't get why they call him zombie boy. I mean, I get it." Max started to say, as she walked with Lucas down the school halls.
"He got lost in the woods for a week or something, but why is he a zombie? Because everyone thought he was dead?"
"Well, see, some other kid drowned at the quarry. We thought it was Will because his body was super decomposed." Lucas explained, surprising Max completely.
"What? Okay, that's not funny." Max replied, not fully believing him at the moment.
"It's not a joke, all right? It's public knowledge. You can ask anybody. Except Will, because he is really sensitive about it." Lucas answered back to her.
"All right?"
"Okay.." Max responded, looking to the side as they walked and saw a familiar face standing at their own locker.
It was Yulette, the girl who just didn't seem to warm up to anyone.
But Max saw something in her. She didn't know what it was, but she saw it.
"Hey, what's up with that Yulette girl?" Max asked Lucas, wanting more information about Yulette.
"Oh, she's a ELL student." Lucas says, confusing Max.
"ELL?"
"A english language learner. It means she is learning english. Some kids make fun of her about it." Lucas added, making Max feel sympathy for the French girl.
"Seriously?" Max questioned.
"Yeah I'm serious, but I gotta go. Catch you later?" Lucas stated to Max.
"Yeah, sure." Max responded, dazed by the girl who was currently crumbling a piece of paper, as Lucas walked away.
Max walked towards the smaller girl, but was stopped when Yulette threw a piece of paper behind her which hit Max's shoe. Max picked up the crumpled paper, and opened it.
