The next day came around, and it was halloween. Yulette usually loved halloween, even though back in France the tradition wasn't very strong.

But this year, trick-or-treating was just another thing she wasn't allowed to do.

This year she would just have to coop up on the couch and rewatch the same Bewitched episodes for the third time this week. When Yulette moved to America, she thought that things would be better.

That things would be different, for the better. But now her mom doesn't even let her do anything other than go to school.

The family of three sat at their dining table, eating scrambled eggs for breakfast. Yulette was playing with her eggs, rather than eating them.

Her mother noticed, her unusual behavior and decided to point them out.

"Yulette, ça va?" She asks her daughter, who was removed from her daze. (TRANSLATION: Yulette, you okay?)

"Oui ça va..." Yulette sighs in response, and goes back to fidgeting her eggs with her fork. (TRANSLATION: Yeah, I'm fine...)

"Tu ne sembles pas bien." The mother mumbled back, with annoyance plastered on her face. (TRANSLATION: You don't seem fine.)

"Elle veut aller trick-or-treating!" Berle blurts out, which makes their mother focus on Berle rather than Yulette. (TRANSLATION: She wants to go trick or treating!)

"Berle!" Yulette shouts at her brother.

"Trick-or-treating-" The mother says before her son cuts her off.

"Ses bonbons ou un sort en Amérique." Berle explains, Amelie fixes her focus back to her daughter with a serious expression on her face. (TRANSLATION: Its candies or a spell in America.)
