Chapter 17

Emily

Once Hunter was finally gone I walk towards the big three, the small scratches I made over my heart scabbed over, "So you want to kill me? Show me what you got." With this the lion quickly makes his way towards me, black mane quivering with his rash movements. I easily dodge and get ready for the next attack. The jaguar and the cheetah both wait for me to shift, so I do and I let out a menacing growl. This causes them to look at each other and then back to me with a look of what I thought was some kind of respect hidden under layers of hatred. I watch as they create a triangle around me, Illuminati confirmed right, but this is not time to make a joke about this. The big three begin to circle me, and I just pace around in the same spot until one of them falters. Shortly after they start, the cheetah breaks formation and comes at me with incredible speed. But I dodge and grab its left hind leg with one clawed paw, raking down and catching on the bone, pulling him to the ground.

The cheetah rolls on its back and tries to defend my attack. I pounce onto the fallen cheetah before it can even react, and grab onto its neck with my powerful jaws. My incisors slip into the tender flesh of the cheetahs neck until they meet in the middle. I had made it all the way through its neck. Pulling my head back would mean that I had vanquished it. So that's what I did, I slowly pulled my jaws away from the bloody gap that was the cheetah's neck. I could hear the cheetah begin to gasp for breath as blood filled its lungs. Slowly I walked away from the dying cat and kept eye contact with the other two.

Blood dripped from my jaws and I just left it there. It was a reminder to them that I was not a kitten anymore. I had my first taste of blood and I was not going to go down without a fight. The lion came next, moving at a snails pace, even though it was sprinting. The speed of the cheetah was far greater than that of the lion, which meant he would be easy to dodge. He comes strait at me, and I go to leap over him when the jaguar pounces on me. It rakes its claws down my right side, and tumbles to the ground with me. I roll the mass of its body so that I was on top of it, and begin to bombard its face with my claws until I am kicked off. The jaguar looks at me through blood and hanging fur with fury practically creating flames in its eyes. With a loud hiss the jaguar runs toward me and goes for my throat. But I dodge and grab its hind quarters with my claws and pull it to the ground once again, where I pin its head to the ground and rake my claws across its neck severing two major arteries. The cat gets up, only to stumble and fall to the ground. I begin to walk away once again when an extremely heavy lion hits my right side. Letting out a pained yowl is all I could do, as the lion positioned himself for the final blow.

Somewhere deep inside of me there was an instinct to kick the lion where the sun doesn't shine, if you know what I mean. So that's what I do, knowing it was a dirty move, but hey call it what you want I am surviving this fight. The lion quickly got off of me and I pounced onto his back and raked my claws down his back, making sure to make the wounds nice and deep. He lets out a pained yowl that almost turns into a howl, and then he flops on his back, practically crushing me. Letting out another pained yowl caused the lion to roar as he went for a pounce. I quickly got to my feet and positioned myself so that I could claw his stomach. My claws went good and deep in his gut as he jumped over me, seeming to be in slow motion. Once the lion landed his legs failed him, and his breathing was labored. I look at the broken gate, and see a plank of wood that had splintered into a point. I walk toward it, shifting with every step. And once I was me again I grabbed the plank and made my way back to the lion, "You know, I have to say you cats made this pretty hard for me." Stumbling towards the dying lion I continue, "I mean, I didn't even know I was a shifter until maybe a month ago. And yet you want to kill me in order to keep you title as rulers over the shifting world."

The lion gave me a pained look as I place a hand on his chest to find his heart beat. "Well you could have made this simpler for yourselves. Come to an agreement with me. But no you had come and try and kill me. Multiple times I might add." Finally I find it at the bottom of his rib cage, "Well, I never learned your name but this is goodbye." I place the plank of wood over the spot and press down with all my body weight. Once I see the life flee from his eyes I shift back into a snow leopard to try and make a swift getaway. But the wound in my side is too deep, and with a pained yowl I fall into a heap of blood and fur. With four shadow figures making their way towards me I slip into unconsciousness.
