The next day Loki, Bruce, Vision, Wanda, Thor, and you help get the compound ready for the party.
Stark had sent over decorators and a caterer to help as well. The compound seemed overcrowded and noisy. You take a break from the chaos and slip into your room without anyone noticing.
In your room, you sit in the chair by the window. You pull your legs into the chair and watch the rain run down the window. You sit for a while, enjoying the silence for a moment.

Back in the common room, Thor finds Loki untangling a strand of lights.
"Brother," Thor says, approaching Loki.
Loki, becoming frustrated with the lights,
"Thor, if you cannot see I am busy trying to salvage these lights."
"I can see," Thor says laughing.
"I don't understand, why do midgardians do this? Is it all that difficult to store a strand of lights nicely?" Loki says, dropping the lights on the table.
Thor laughs,
"Here let me try," he says, picking up the lights.
Loki watches Thor attempt to untangle the ball of lights.
"So, will you be attending this party?" Thor asks.
"It wasn't on my agenda but Claire insisted," Loki says, smiling.
"Well, I wouldn't miss a chance at free beer," Thor says,
"Of course you wouldn't, brother," Loki says laughing.
"Speaking of Claire, I haven't seen her for a while. How is she?" Thor asks
"Better. Her ribs healed fairly fast and she is back to training," Loki says.
"I am happy to hear that brother," Thor says. He looks up from his lights and looks around,
"Is she helping with the party?" He asks.
Loki looks around,
"Yeah, she was around here somewhere. I wonder where she went off to," Loki says, as he scans the room.
"Well, if you need to find her," Thor says, seeing Loki become concerned.
"I am sure she is fine," Loki says, as he continues to look around.
"Brother, go find her. I will continue to attend to the lights while you do," Thor says, patting the ball of lights.
Loki smiles at Thor and walks down the hall. Scanning the rooms for you.

You have been sitting in your room for about an hour now. Staring out the window, lost in thought.
A knock on your door breaks your train of thought.
"It's open," you call out. Not taking your eyes off the window.
Loki walks into your room.
"There you are, I have been looking everywhere for you," he says walking across the room. You look up at him and smile,
"Oh, I am sorry. The noise and commotion were getting to me. Needed some quiet. Did you need something?" you ask, standing.
"No, was just curious where you ran off to this time," Loki says.
You walk up to Loki,
"You say it as though I run off often," you say, joking.
Loki wraps his arms around you,
"If my calculations are correct, you have done it on multiple occasions."
You smile and lean in and kiss him.
He kisses you back before pulling away and bringing you into him.
You rest your head on his chest. You listen to the sound of his heartbeat. It is soothing. You let out a deep sigh.
"Are you sure you're alright?" Loki asks, his hand lacing through your hair.
"You worry too much," you say, pulling away chuckling. "You are going to start getting grey hairs."
Loki laughs,
"Now that would be a sight."
Loki pulls you in for one more kiss.
"As much as I loath untangling lights, shall we return?" he asks.
You laugh,
"I suppose we shall, " you say, squeezing Lokis's hand.
You both return to the common area. Thor has managed to tangle the lights even more.
You laugh watching him struggle.
"Here, allow me, " you say, taking the ball of lights from him, rolling your eyes.
Both Loki and Thor laugh. The three of you sit in the common room. Together you joke and take turns untangling the lights. When finished, you remain in the common room. Having drinks and telling stories. You hardly notice the return of the others from their mission.
"I see you guys have kept busy, " Tony says, entering the common area.
"Hey, your lousy storage of lights took longer than planned, " you say, looking at Thor and Loki. The three of you laughing.
"Yeah, well I am rich. I just buy new ones, " Tony jokes back.
"How was the mission?" Thor asks, standing.
"Oh you know, same old same old. Back talking aliens. Eventually, they gave up," Tony says.
Before anyone can ask further questions Natasha, Steve, Rhodey, and Bucky walk in.
"Now, you guys get cleaned up and get some sleep," Tony says.
He turns his attention to the rest of the group.
"I expect everyone to be at the party Friday. It is formal so look your best," he says. He leaves the room before anyone can protest.
You walk over to Natasha and Steve.
"You two look like hell," you say as you reach them.
"You should see the other guys," Steve says.
The three of you laugh.
Steve walks away and down the hall to the bedrooms.
"So what time should we meet up Friday?" you ask. Turning your attention to Natasha.
She laughs,
"I take it you have never been to a formal party before?"
"It's been a couple of decades," you joke.
"Well, it is going to take a least all day. So, mid-morning we will meet up," she says. She turns away and heads down the hall to her room.
Loki approaches behind you.
"Shall we call it a night, love?" he asks.
You turn to him and smile,
"Sure."
You both say goodnight to the others before heading down the hall to your room.
Loki and you both change into more comfortable clothes and crawl into bed.
Loki pulls you into him.
"You know I could get used to this," he says. Intertwining his fingers with yours.
"Me too," you say softly.
"Claire, I must tell you before I forget. My father has requested Thor and I return to Asgard."
You pull away to look at him,
"You have just returned from the last trip," you say.
"I know love, but father needs us. I will leave tomorrow morning and return sometime the following day," he says.
You settle back into his arm.
"You mentioned I have Asgardian blood. Does this mean I can call upon the Bifrost?"
"I am not sure, I hope one day you'll be able to visit my home," Loki says.
"What is it like?" you ask.
Loki explains the beauty of Asgard to you. He talks of the gold castle, the statues of the ancestors. He speaks of the bridge and the room of the relics. Loki continues to talk. Unaware that you had fallen asleep.
When he notices, he pulls the blanket up to your shoulder. Kisses you on the top of the head and holds you until he too drifts off to sleep.
