By the evening she found herself restless pacing up and down in her room. Alfie must have been in the hospital since the morning but she didn't call him to bother him more. And it's been hours and she's sitting there bitting nails so she decided to call his mother. "Hello, Dalia." She said once she pick it up. "I didn't wanted to bother i just called to know how's Alfie."

"Hello, darling. He's good. They made all the neccasarry blood tests and preparations. The surgery starts tomorrow at 9 in the morning," she said and let out long exhale. "How do you feel? Are your parents there or do you want to come to my place to not be alone?"

"Ah.. they're here, yeah but thank you." She cleaned her throat. "And I'm good..ah can i be there tomorrow?"

"I will let you know, alright? We'll see, how it will go and I'll call you, once we get any information. James is there with him. It's private clinic, so we paid for guest room. Don't worry, he won't be alone and I'll give you a call as soon as possible."

"Alright, Dalia." She said quietly. "Thank you. Call me whatever time just call me." She said before they hung up.

Night was long and day was the same. Emilia with Kit came. They spared Sophie their comments of how she made a mistake and let Alfie came back to her life. That moment didn't require these things to remind her. She was checking on her phone every five minutes and jerked her body, whenever it beeped or buzzed. But no call came during whole day and she was restless and fell asleep from exhaustion. Then the next morning she was sitting with her parents and kids by the table having breakfast, when her phone started to ring. It was Dalia and Sophie answered quickly. "Good morning, Sophie," Dalia spoke. "I'm sorry, we didn't let you know... There were some complications and... well… Alfred woke up now," she skipped details and sighed. "If you want, I'm going to clinic now in an hour, I'll pick you up."

"Yes,of course that would be great." She said holding her breath. "Is he alright? What kind of complications?" She asked in one breath.

"The tumour partly grew into his bone already... but he should be fine now," she replied. "I'll see you in an hour then."

"Alright. I'm gonna get ready." She said and rush to take a shower and dress up to be in time. Thankfully her parents were still there to take care of the kids and an hour later Dalia came to pick her up. "Hello, Dalia." She said quietly watching her exhausted face and sighed. "How have you been?" She asked. Well she was a mother as well she could see her pain.

"Monica gave me some pills, so I got some sleep," she answered tiredly. "i swear, once James called me and told me, he's still on surgery, I had a breakdown," she shook her head and put on sunglasses, feeling her eyes burning from light. "Let's hope it will be better now. He has to continue on therapy, it will be a long journey, but we will manage," she added calmly.

"What did the doctor said? How bad is it?" She asked. Her questions would be endless if she started now but at least she could ask of doctors words.

"Well the doctor said, they have to count on biological therapy now to kill the rest of what might have stayed there. I mean, it started to grow in his bones, for god's sake," she said shaking head and wiped her eyes under glasses. "If not, he will have to go to another surgery, probably," she sighed.

Taking a deep breath Sophie looked at her front considering everything that she just told her. She took her hand on her own and nods. "Whatever it takes. He'll come through this." She encouraged her but said nothing else.

Soon they arrived at the clinic and found James outside his doctor. "He's sleeping." He let them know and Sophie let out a shaking breath.

"You're here all the time. Why don't you go take some rest now?" Sophie suggested.
