The Words I Used

What I thought would happen, happened. I got nightmares galore, and they wouldn't stop.

"Come on y/n! You're being so idiotic, it's a simple move!" He scoffed, "Even a child could do it!"

I shriveled under his glare, "I'm sorry Justin."

He rolled his eyes, "Sorry isn't good enough. We've talked about this stuff Stark. A- lose some goddamn weight, and B- learn the easy moves!"

He took a step to me, and I took a step back. My back hit the mirror, and he just chuckled darkly.

"I see you still understand who's incharge?"

I nodded frantically, but his hand still collided with my face.

I shot up in bed, and saw it was 6am. I didn't see a reason to try and sleep more, so I got up and changed. I went down to the Avengers level to see just about everyone was awake. Clint was asleep along with Thor, but everyone else was up. Loki was sitting in the corner reading his book, and we made eye contact when I walked in. The second I did he shot up, and walked over to me. I started walking back to my room as fast as I could, but he caught up to me in the hall.

"Who is Justin?"

I froze, and turned to him with a glare, "Stop looking in my dreams!"

He sighed, "I did not y/n. I heard you talking about him, and when I asked your father he refused to tell me."

I tried to walk away, but he grabbed my arm.

"I know you did not just get dropped."

I faced him again, "It's none of your business."

He looked down, "But I would like to know what is troubling you."

I scoffed, "Why? So you can use it against me?"

Guilt flooded his eyes, and he looked away from me quickly.

"I don't know why you suddenly give a shit. I thought you were a god, and I was nothing."

He looked back at me, "Those were not the words I used."

I threw my hands into the air, "They're close enough! I mean why'd you even have to do that man?!"

In the past few weeks much I didn't know about had happened. When I had my first nightmare three weeks ago I went and told dad about it. That I obviously knew, but what I didn't was that he told Loki a little bit about it too. Loki had also been talking to Thor about what happened, and why exactly he did what he did. Thor didn't know me well, but he had randomly started talking to me over the weeks. He asked me a lot of questions that had the general theme of are you racist. He never would explain to me exactly why he wanted to know, but I also didn't ask that often.

Back to Loki, he had also been talking to Bucky a lot. Yes, Bucky. It may sound weird, but since Loki can mind read he quickly found out about the assassins relationship with Steve. He had been asking him about it, because he knew Bucky didn't think he deserved Steve. To Bucky, Steve was the most amazing, innocent, kindhearted man or person he'd ever met.

But..... I knew none of this.

I stayed in my room, and acted like I was perfectly fine. I had the idea everyone knew I wasn't, but I still put the act up. Three weeks since Loki walked out of the damn library and I still wasn't over it. I didn't know you could fall for someone so fucking fast.

"Are you even listening to me?"

I snapped out of my head, and looked up to the god standing before me.

He scoffed a little, "I said I am deeply, and truly sorry for my actions y/n. I wish you would forgive me."

That's just what Justin would do.

I slumped against the wall, "Justin was my old dance partner. We were partners for about... 2, maybe 3 years. We started dating really quickly, and we also moved really fast. He dropped me on purpose, he dropped me to prove a point. He used me in every way he could, and he did it all for his mom."

"Who was his mother?"

"Air Force General Hale." I sighed a little, "Hydra's... it's never ending. After everything happened with S.H.I.E.L.D all those years ago, Hydra found a way to stay around. She was a Hydra operative, and she had two kids. One girl, who was an assassin badass, and one boy who was a secret undercover agent. He was supposed to do everything he could to tear me down, it was a way to taught my dad even though he didn't know it."

I looked Loki dead in the eye, "Justin was the most toxic person I've ever met. He called me names, made comments on my appearance and was just an ass. But everytime we broke up, he'd show up to the studio with candy, flowers, just something and he's apologize.... or he'd make me think it was all my fault. We kept getting back together, until one day he threw me on the fucking ground."

Loki was the first break the eye contact. He looked sheepishly to his feet, and then back to my face.

"I am sorry Y/n."

"You don't need to say sorry, it wasn't your fault."

He shook his head, "That is not what I meant." He took a step closer to me, "I am sorry for saying what I said, and I am sorry for everything I did to you."

As he got closer my heartbeat started to speed up. I looked to the floor, but the second I did his finger found its way under my chin, and pushed my head back up.

"I did not want to hurt you."

Huh?

"But you did." We were both whispering.

He sighed, and moved his hand so it would cup my cheek. "I am not as I appear."

"Could you be a little less cryptic?"

He nodded his head, and we poofed into his room. He removed his hand from my face, and kept his eyes closed as his skin turned blue. A pattern dotted itself along his now blue skin, and he opened his eyes to reveal striking red ones.

Holy hell.

"You're so pretty." I went to touch him, but he quickly reeled back.

"You should not touch me, I could freeze your entire arm off."

I didn't say anything, and instead continued to admire his new skin.

"I don't totally understand." I finally said.

Loki changed his skin back, and sat down on his bed. "I am Jotun. Odin took me when I was a child."

I smiled at him, "But it's so pretty."

"It makes me a monster."

I laughed a little, and realized he was dead serious.

"Loki, your skin doesn't make your a monster. The only thing that makes people monsters is themselves.

"You are not disgusted by my heritage?"

"If I'm being honest here Slenderman, I don't know what Jotun is... but I also don't really care."

Then it dawned on me, all the questions Thor was asking. Loki was scared of what I would think of him. He thought it would hurt me, or I would hurt him.

Such an idiot.
