Ackerman Journal Entry #19

An Ackerman will protect its host at all costs, even at the risk of their own life. – E. Ackerman

"Levi, I know I said I will help you with the Ackerman bond thing." You muttered under your breath while you lay awake on an infirmary bed staring up at the ceiling in exhaustion. "It doesn't include sharing a bed with you."

Levi yawned beside you as he pulled you closer in his embrace. "It doesn't?" He groggily replied as your eye twitched in annoyance. "Yes, it doesn't. So tell me, why are you in my bed? Hugging me. While I sleep." You asked with an irritated tone, trying to push Levi away.

Levi sleepily groaned beside you as he rolled over and released you from his embrace. "The titan blood won't let me sleep. You pissed it off." He murmured in reply as you sat up on the bed. "Me? What did I do?" You asked in confusion.

"You kept putting yourself in danger today and it made me uneasy thinking you're in danger." He replied with a light glare. "I even pointed my blade at Erwin because I thought you died." Levi muttered under his breath, tiredly running a hand over his face.

You laughed out loud at his confession. "You did? At the Commander? How sweet." Levi opened an eye to look at you. "Not you. The titan blood inside you. Can I have him instead?" You explained with a teasing grin.

Levi sat up with a sigh, reaching up a hand to your hair, tousling it. "This job is already life-threatening as it is. Can you at least stop running head first into danger?" He said with a frown as you tried to swat his hand away.

You faked a pout at him as Levi made a disgusted face at the way you fluttered you lashes. "But your titan blood will protect me, right?" You asked in a sweet tone, laughing inwardly at the confused expression on Levi's face.

"No." He replied. "The titan blood wants me to put you inside a cage and lock you up." Levi said with a smirk, watching as you slowly moved away. I knew it, titans can't be trusted. You thought to yourself. "Fine. I'll try to stay away from danger." You muttered, kicking Levi out of your bed. "Now go away."

"So what do we do now?" Hange asked over breakfast, the day after the 57th exterior scouting mission failed. "Did Erwin say anything to you guys?" They asked, taking a bite out of a piece of bread. You shook your head. "I thought he would've said something to you guys instead." You replied.

"Ahhhhh. I hate the feeling of not knowing anything." Hange complained, banging their fists on the table. "Distract me. Tell me, how are things going on between you and Levi?" Hange asked with an excited glint in their eyes.

You choked on the water you were drinking as Seth laughed beside you. "Oh, it's a mess. There's so much I don't understand about the bond and the titan blood itself." You complained, taking a deep breath to explain everything you learned over the past days.

"First, as you know, there's the pain that Levi goes through. And then, he goes on and tells me that he doesn't feel anything but the pain. I don't understand it all that much but based on what he told me, he can't feel emotions. And lastly, the titan blood inside him is an overprotective manipulative son of a bitch that wants Levi to lock me up in a cage." Taking a large gulp of water after you finished explaining.

"It's like having a needy possessive pet." Seth commented beside you while laughing. You scoffed. "A needy killer pet." Hange added laughing at your distraught expression. "What are you talking about?" A low voice asked behind you.

You glanced at Hange and Seth. "The pet speaks." You whispered before turning around to face Levi. "Nothing." You replied with an easy smile. "Did you hear anything from Erwin?" You asked as Levi sat down on your other side.

"No. But I saw someone from the Military Police this morning. Something is up." He replied, pouring himself a cup of hot tea as his elbow bumped your arm. "Those lazy bastards are fucking annoying." You heard Levi say as you nodded in agreement. "I know. They get on my nerves too." You replied.

Levi, Hange, and Seth all stared at you in confusion. "What? You don't agree?" You asked, biting an apple. "Agree with what?" Seth slowly asked as you chewed before swallowing. "Levi said the Military Police are lazy bastards and that they're annoying as fuck." You replied shrugging your shoulders, frowning at the way your friends' faces remained confused. "What? What is it?"

"Y/N, Levi didn't say that." Hange whispered in a serious tone. You furrowed your brows, annoyed. "What are you talking about? He's right beside me. I heard him say it loud and clear." You replied, irritated at the way your friends' are acting.

"I didn't say it." Levi said in a low voice. "I thought of it. So how did you know?" He asked, staring at you with a weird expression. Hange suddenly clapped their hands together. "Ah! I think I've read this on the journal before. Wait, let me recall." They said, tapping their hands on their head.

"Right! The journal said, in rare cases, the Ackerman and the host can share thoughts with each other!" Hange excitedly exclaimed as your expression stiffened and paled. Levi smirked, interested at the prospect of him getting in your thoughts. "Perfect! Can I help you in testing this out? Please?" Hange asked with a pout as you felt Levi's stare beside you.

I should've kept my mouth shut. You thought as Levi bumped his shoulder with yours. Can you hear me, Princess? You heard him inside your head as you scooted away from him, accidentally falling off the bench on your ass. You blinked up at Levi who was smirking at your disheveled appearance on the floor. "This is interesting." He murmured with a grin as your complexion paled even more.
