"This is absolutely ridiculous," Lucas muttered under his breath from his hiding spot behind a parked car.

After school Dustin wanted to figure out for sure if Max was Mad Max and Lucas decided to tag along because he had nothing better to do.

They went back to the arcade and waited for Max to show up. And that's how they got here... hiding behind a car while Lucas looked for her through his binoculars.

"It is not ridiculous!" Dustin snapped back. "It is going to answer our question whether Max is Mad Max."

Lucas sighed and looked through his binoculars, scanning the parking lot for any sign of the redhead.

There was a beat of silence before Dustin spoke up again. "Still no sign?"

"Jack shit," Lucas replied still looking for Max.

"Oh! Damn it," Dustin said looking at his watch. "My mom's going to murder me."

"So go home. I'll radio if she comes."

"Oh, yeah, nice try," Dustin gave Lucas an unimpressed look. "You just want me out of here so you can make your move."

"What?" Lucas scrunched his eyebrows together. Then the realization of what he said kicked in and, for some reason, he couldn't decide if he felt sad at the fact Dustin was moving on from their time with Nikki and El, or mad that Dustin thought Lucas would move on as easily as he did. "No. That's...that's not going to happen."

Dustin scoffed. "Yeah, right. But it doesn't matter. She will not be able to resist these pearls." Dustin purred making Lucas shake his head in disapproval.

He couldn't help but wonder how he ended up with Dustin as one of his best friends.

"Ten o'clock," Dustin shook him out of his head.

Lucas squinted at him. "What?"

"Ten o'clock," Dustin pointed to the sports car pulling into the parking lot.

Lucas looked through the binoculars as the car stopped quickly with its brakes squealing. Max quickly got out of the car while yelling at her brother in the drivers seat.

"They're arguing," Lucas stated quickly to Dustin who muttered something under his breath. "They're arguing."

"I see that," Dustin sighed, glaring at him despite Lucas not seeing him because of the binoculars getting in the way. "I don't even know why you need those. God. So stupid."

As the car pulled away and Max flipped her brother off before storming into the arcade, Lucas turned to Dustin. "I agreed to come here with you, okay? So let me have my fun with the investigation while you drool over her."

Dustin scoffed before heading into the arcade with Lucas running to keep up with him.

When they got inside, they saw Max starting to play Dig Dug and they hid in a hiding spot not too far away from her.

"She's pretty good," Lucas nodded impressed at the redhead. The boys sat down behind their wall.

"She's..." Dustin smiled meeting Lucas's eye.

"Mad Max," They said in unison.

"Mike?" Dustin called into his headset as he and Lucas rode their bikes home. After getting nothing but static back, he shook his head and turned to Lucas. "He's not answering."

"Try that other channel he's always on," Lucas shrugged. Lucas noticed that within the past year Mike had been using a different channel than normal. Whatever he was doing Lucas didn't really care about. That was his business and Lucas had his he didn't share with anyone. Therefore, he didn't plan on asking Mike about it.
