As Mal was sleeping, Evie was trying to study for an upcoming test. But she quickly got bored of that, so she decided to clean up the dorm, she started with Mal's side. She picked up some of her clothes and put them in the laundry basket that she would take down to the laundry room later, she picked up one of Mal's leather jackets and went to put it in the closet.
But as she did, she noticed a part of the wall was sticking out behind Mal's hanging jackets and other articles of her clothing. And Evie, being her curious self, pushed aside some of Mal's things and grabbed the piece of the wall and found it was some type of drawer disguised to blend with the wall.
It had some of Mal's things in it, and first she found Mal's spell book inside, Evie picked it up with her brow furrowed. "I thought she put this in the museum." She said out loud to herself as she continued to look through it.
But suddenly, her eye caught sight of a glowing object inside the wall where she had found the drawer, Evie reached towards it and she saw it was Maleficent's scepter. That shocked her most of all. So Mal had taken the scepter, she had been lying to everybody, including herself. Evie put the scepter back and the drawer and went back into the dorm to wait for Mal to wake up. She was definitely going to have a long talk with her.

Mal slowly opened her eyes, she sat up and stretched her arms before she caught sight of Evie standing at the end of her bed with her arms crossed, giving her her a hard stare. "Sleep well?" She asked Mal.
"Yeah, I guess. Why are you looking at me like that?" Mal asked her as she noticed that Evie did not look happy at all. "Is everything ok?"
"No. It's not, Mal." Evie replied. "I need to know something, and I want you to be honest with me."
"Ok? What is it?"
"Mal...did you take your mother's scepter?" Evie asked.
"Evie, why are you asking me this?" Mal asked her.
"Because! I found the scepter, Mal! Why did you take it?!" Evie yelled at her. "You lied right to Ben's face when he asked about it? You didn't even tell me about it! Why?!"
"Because it started calling out to me! And ever since I touched it, it has a hold on me and its trying to control me." Mal told her. "I wanted to tell you, but I was afraid that you would hate me, and I knew that it would get me into so much trouble. Please, can you forgive me?"
"Of course I can, M. But it would mean more to me if you were to return the scepter back to the museum." Evie replied as she pulled Mal in for a hug.
"Evie, I would. But I can't." Mal told her as she pulled away from Evie.
"And why not?"
"Because the connection I have with the scepter is too strong, I can't break it. On my own at least."
"What do you mean?" Evie asked her getting confused.
"There's only one thing that can break my connection with the scepter. I have to go to Blackfire Island and get a dragon's scale, the magic it contains is the only thing powerful enough to break it." Mal explained to Evie. "But if I don't get to it fast enough, the scepter will control me forever."
"Wait, so that's why you attacked me? It wasn't you, it was the scepter." Evie realized.
Mal nodded in response. "Very slowly, the scepter is taking over my body. If I wait any longer, the scepter is gonna completely take over and I will be lost. I have to leave right now." Mal said to her.
"We have to hurry then! I'm not gonna lose my best friend. Let's go!" Evie said about to start packing a bag for herself and Mal.
But Mal stopped her from doing so, as she grabbed her arm. "No Evie, you are not coming with me. This is something I have to do on my own, it's too dangerous. I'm not going to let anyone get hurt because of the choices I made." Mal told her.
Evie nodded knowing that Mal was right. But she couldn't let her go without her either. "Mal, what if something happens to you and there's no one to help you! I have to go with you!" Evie tried to tell her.
"Evie, I'm not changing my mind. Everything will be fine. So long as I get a dragon's scale fast enough. But I have to do it on my own." Mal said as she went into the closet to go and get the scepter.
When she came out, Evie ran over and hugged her tightly. "Just promise me you'll come back safe." She said into Mal's hair.
"I promise." Mal replied. "And if I don't come come back....well, I assume you'll know what happened."
"Just don't let that happen."
Mal nodded, determined to not let Evie down, or break her promise. And it was then, that Mal disappeared before Evie's eyes, she heard a roar come from outside,Evie quickly ran over to the window and saw Mal, in her dragon form, flying away.
"Stay safe." Evie whispered under her breath. She closed her eyes and sighed. Mal would be alright. She just had to keep believing that.
A/N: Well? What did you all think of that? Please let me know what you thought! Until the next chapter!!!
