After a few hours of sleep, Mal woke feeling weaker than normal, she felt lightheaded. She tried standing up and struggled to find her balance as she clung onto the tree she had been sleeping by. She ultimately decided that it would be a good idea to just stand against it until she was able to walk on her own again.
Out of her boredom, Mal decided to check up on Evie and see how she was doing while she was gone. She used the scepter to see her, but to her shock she saw Evie with Jay, Carlos, and Henry hiking through the forest, the same forest that she had been though herself. Evie had followed her anyway, and now she was on Blackfire Island.
Mal now didn't have a moment to waste now that her friends were heading towards her and getting closer. So she then stood away from the tree and continued on her way to the Cave of Enchantment. Mal knew that if Evie got to her before she was able to get the Dragon's Scale she would find out what she was really planning on doing with it, and then Evie would stop at nothing to make sure it didn't happen.
"Well, you sure got out of there fast." Her mother appeared next to her and said to her.
"My friends came after me. I need to get to the Dragon's Scale before they can find me." Mal informed her.
"That's great!" Maleficent replied sarcastically. "If only there was a way you could slow them down."
"If I keep moving I won't need to slow them down. But I guess it wouldn't be the worst idea to slow them down just a bit." Mal said as she came to a stop and held the scepter up to her face. She bit her lip trying to decide if she should really do it. She didn't want to hurt them, but she didn't exactly want them to get to her either.
"Why don't you summon an army to fight them. That would sure slow them down." Her mother suggested to her.
"I don't want to kill them, mother! They're still my friends."
"It doesn't have to be a huge army, just a big enough one to stall them."
Mal knew it was a bad idea, she could feel it settling deep within her gut telling her no. She didn't want to put her friends lives at risk, but the scepter already had too much control on her and it was clouding her judgement even more and she could barely fight it any longer. She then used the scepter to send an army towards her friends, but not without the consequence of the scepter taking over even more of her. What was left of the real Mal knew that Evie, Jay, Carlos, and Henry were in danger.

Evie knew that she was going to need a rest soon with how tired she was of hiking through the thick forest. "Evie when are we going to take a break?" She heard Carlos ask from behind her.
"Soon." Was her reply as she heard the boys groan from behind her as well. She was about to turn around to tell them that they didn't have time for multiple stops considering Mal was so far ahead of them, but before she got that chance there was suddenly a thick purple smoke surrounding them.
"Uh, what is this?" Jay asked as they stood together carefully eyeing the smoke around them in a giant circle.
"I don't know but I am getting a bad feeling right now." Henry said nervously with his hand on his sword ready to draw it out if need be.
And then immediately out of the smoke came an army of masked soldiers with swords and shields pointed right at the four vk's. "Where did they come from?!" Carlos asked as they all took out their swords and pointed them right at the soldiers who looked ready to attack any second.
