Mal landed on the beach, on the shores, of Blackfire Island as she transformed back into her human body. She looked down at the scepter which was still safe in her grasp as she closed her eyes, sighing as she brought it to her chest. She then looked ahead at the forest in front of her.

Mal took a deep breath in. "Let's blow this popsicle stand." She said to herself, taking that first step into the forest. She could hear the rumble of thunder behind her from the Southern Sea as she trudged confidently through this thick forest.

But as she did, she couldn't help but think about her friends who she had left behind back in Auradon. She could only hope that maybe she would be able to go back, she knew if she didn't though, it was to protect. This was all to protect Auradon.
She continued her trek, embracing all of the silence with the occasional rumble of thunder in the distance.

Mal knew that storm would be coming upon her pretty soon, so she started looking around to see if she could spot some sort of shelter nearby as it would also be getting dark soon. After awhile of doing so, Mal found an old cabin or hut of some kind. 'It'll have to do for now, I guess.' Mal thought to herself as she went on inside.

She made her into the bedroom inside, getting into the bed staring up at the ceiling. Mal began to wonder what would happen if she failed to break the connection that she had with her mother's scepter. How would Evie be able to handle it? She would be so hurt, Mal could never do that to her. She had already done enough to her with all of the lying, she had to do this to somehow make it up to her.

With all of those thoughts on her mind, Mal felt her eyelids getting heavier as she soon fell asleep. But as soon as she fell into a deep sleep, she saw her mother appear, her signature evil grin plastered on her face as she just stared into her soul. "I've never been more proud of you." She said not breaking the stare she had on Mal.

"What do you mean?" Mal found herself asking.

"Well, you took my scepter, committed your first murder, and so much more! Haven't you always wanted to make me proud?" Maleficent asked her.

"Maybe that's what I thought I wanted. But that changed when I chose good." Mal informed her mother. "I'm gonna break this connection, and there is nothing you can do to change my mind."

"Or maybe there is." Mal looked at her mother with a confused expression on her face.

"And what might that be?" Mal hesitated to ask.

Maleficent only smirked at her making Mal gulp nervously. "Mal, you have a good pokerface, I will admit. But you can't hide anything from me. After all, I am your mother." She said to her. "I know a part of you still wants to make me proud of you. And you have a chance here. All you have to do is go to the Cave of Enchantment take a dragon scale, and use it to make the scepter even more powerful. Then you can take over all of Auradon, no one would be able to stop you. That, Mal, would make me proud of you. Nothing is standing in your way right now. You made a wise choice by leaving your friends behind."

Mal really thought about what her mother had just told her. Should she do it? Should she stick to her original plan? "If I really do all that. You truly will be proud of me?" She asked for confirmation.

"That is what I said, isn't it?"

Mal knew she shouldn't, she didn't want to be more of a monster than she already was. But something inside of her told her to listen to her mother. Something clouded her judgement, she knew it was the scepter was trying to take over more of her. But should she give in? Give in to all of the power? After all of the thinking, Mal smiled up at her mother. "Ok, I will. I will make you proud mom."

Maleficent began laughing evilly as Mal soon joined her. "Soon you will be worthy to be known by your full name."

And that was when Mal woke up from her dream. But to her shock and surprise she saw her mother in her room. "H-how are you here? I thought I turned you into a lizard." Mal said to her.

"You did. But a part of me is still connected to the scepter. I'm not really here, only you can see me because you have the scepter. Now get up, we have a dragon scale to find." Maleficent told her.

Mal wasted no time in getting out of bed as she grabbed the scepter, continuing to hike through the forest determined to get to the Cave of Enchantment.
