And the day finally arrived.
After four years of ups and downs, I graduated with honors from college. I think it was the only good thing that happened to me since I moved to Irvine a year and a half ago, obviously besides meeting Jeff, Mutt... and Venable.
I didn't have much to tell from before that. Same routine: Go to college, go to work, go back home at midnight and wake up at five in the morning. Many times I went into despair, many times I cried because of how monotonous my life was, but all that was over. I had finally graduated.
As for Venable, nothing changed, she was the same stone cold bitch I had met that day, but I was so happy I met her, my feelings for her had done nothing but increase the last year.
Jeff and Mutt saved enough money to move their company to a local in town, they were doing incredibly well, and I was proud. They were no longer operating in the back of a van and their house was unoccupied and reorganized, all their materials were in the place that they rented with so much effort.
However, I had never been happy for something that I had done, or for something that I had achieved. I mean, anyone could graduate, but graduate with honors? That filled me with satisfaction because I overloaded and overworked myself for that.
I quit my job, but I already had another job that I would start in a week, a job that I knew I would love.
"To our badass psychologist (Y/N)!" Jeff exclaimed, opening a bottle of champagne.
"Cheers!" Mutt and I said in unison.
Jeff and Mutt were so sweet, they attended my graduation and they wouldn't stop yelling and clapping for me, so much that they were almost kicked out. They were happy for me, and it was nice to know that they were as happy for my accomplishments as I was for theirs.
If it weren't for them, I probably wouldn't have gone through such a load that I put on myself, as they always encouraged and supported me.
And after my graduation, we headed over to their house, for they organized a little celebration. They ordered my favorite food, bought me a cake and champagne. Obviously our favorite music could not be missing.
"(Y/N) I'm proud of you. We know you worked hard for this, we know you went through a lot before moving here so... trust me when I say that we are so happy you're where you've always wanted to be." Jeff told me, taking a sip of his champagne.
He was right, something that made me happier than graduating was realizing that those days of getting up incredibly early, doing homework while on my workday, getting calls from annoying clients from 3p.m. to midnight were finally over.
"Yeah, and we're proud to witness all your achievements. This is gonna be the first of many. We love you." Mutt agreed, pulling me into a hug.
I was so moved by their words, and I was a person who needed to hear them more than anyone, so my eyes were already teary.
"I am so happy that I moved here, because I met two amazing people." I told them. "Thank you so much for everything"
And for the next three hours we were talking, laughing and joking. That night was perfect, the food was delicious, the champagne was magnificent and the music would not stop playing. Since it was a special night, and we deserved to relax, we got out some weed and shared about four cigars.
Someone knocked on the door, it was relatively early but why would someone knock at nine at night?
And when I thought that day could not get any better, I was met with those wonderful brown eyes that have always been a pleasure to contemplate for a year.
