When their lips parted they had a few seconds of complete happiness and peace, until Canada finally felt the horrible stinging in her hands and arm. She didn't realize the amount of blood she lost until she felt it. She felt the colour drain from her face as she felt lightheaded, she gripped her arm and shut her eyes as she looked down. "Did I do something? Canada I-" Russia panicked but was cut off by Canada. "Nono, you were amazing." She smiled at him for a second until sitting down against the wall of the bridge.
Thats when Russia saw it, the blood that seeped through her fingers, the half-dead expression, how she had begun crying from the horrid stinging and pain. He realized what he's done, and was now trying his best to take care of her. "Hey, Look at me." He soothed. "You're going to be okay, okay?" He had bent down to her and smile at her.
Canada didn't move, she only nodded when Russia asked if she brought bandages and if he could borrow them. She nudged her head in the direction of the satchel signalling that they were in there. Russia nodded and went to the bag and opened it, picking up the roll of bandages and carefully wrapped it around her arm. Trying to distract her with the stars in hope she wouldn't feel the sting.
As he wrapped her arm, Canada pulled her other hand away and looked at the compus, and somehow it was still in perfect shape. She smiled and placed her hand on her chest as she looked up at the stars, she was proud of herself. But she was also in the most pain she had been in for a while.
She had eventually dozed off and when Russia noticed he took off his coat and wrapped it around her, after taking her satchel off so she would sleep better. He blew out the lantern and placed it beside her before then sitting beside her and dozing off. When night turned to day and the birds sang their song, they acted as an alarm for Russia and Canada.
Russia had woken up first, he didn't like waking up early. He got up and stretched, looking around just as a quick scan of the area before squatting down again and gently shook Canada. "Hey, wake up." He said gently. He began worrying as it took Canada a bit to wake up, but when he saw her head turn to face him and her copper-like eyes opened with a tired smile, he smiled back. "Thought you were dead for a second." Russia chuckled as he got up and stretched again.
"Ha! In my dreams." Canada tiredly said, yawning right after. She spent a minute on the ground, waking up, before getting up stretching her least injured limps. She had then noticed the coat around her. "This is yours, right?" She asked as she slowly took it off her shoulders, trying not to irritate her wound.
"Indeed." Russia yawned. "Do you want it back?" She asked, folding it on her arm. "I would, thank you." He smiled as Canada passed it to him and he had put it back on, messing up the collar in the meantime. Canada noticed and told him, so Russia tried to fix it but only messed up more.
"Need help?" Canada offered, holding back her laughter. "I- Uhm, okay." He accepted nervously, looking away. Canada let out a small chuckle as she then went over to him and fixed his collar, looking up at him and they were lost in each other's eyes.
Russia was lost in the glow her Amber eyes held, he read the history behind them and felt sorrow for her but he was amazed by it. How something most people would shake off held such rich colour and so much power. He knew that she wasn't born with the rich beauty in her eyes, but he loved them more than anyone could ever admit.
Canada was frozen in the nearly colourless and alluring eyes Russia had. She had saved him from the dark and deadly spell that hid the dull wonderland, and she was more than happy she did. The pain and worry behind his grey wonderland made her want to save him time and time again, just so he lived a life without pain. And only happiness.
And just like a previous night, their eyes pulled them together and made another memorable kiss.
When they pulled apart they were still stuck in each other's eyes until Russia snapped out of it and immediately started apologizing. "I'm so sorry Canada, I didn't mean- I didn't want- I'm-I'm sorry." He apologized. Looking away.
Canada giggled, "Hey, don't be sorry. It's alright." She smiled, soothing Russia. She was a little surprised to see Russia like this before she knew him as this cold-hearted country that only wants to bring chaos and negativity. But now, she knows him as a country with a shell. He acts all tuff and mean, but when you slip past that shell, you see the real him. The soft and gentle country that feels guilty for every mistake he's ever done. She's really quite lucky, as not even his own family has seen him for his past self.
"Are you sure? I-I mean I-" Russia was worrying a little too much, he couldn't even form a sentence. Canada smiled warmly and cupped his cheek. "Yes, I'm sure." Russia smiled and leaned into her hand. She eventually pulled her hand away and said. "So, why are you here?" She asked as she sat on the ledge of the bridge.
Russia jumped back, his face had paled and his heart dropped. His chest hollowed and he let out a thin layer of sweat made from fear. "I-I-" he stuttered. "I mean, I know you tried to kill me when you were under Chinas control but, why are you still here?" She asked.
"Because..I want to make up for my actions, and your the one who saved me." He said, rubbing his arm out of anxiety. "But anything I do now seems like it won't make up for getting me out of that horrible spell." He muttered. Canada seen her mistake in asking and got off the ledge and walked over to him. She cupped his cheek with a warm hearted smile before then kissing his cheek.
"It's alright, I'm glad your okay now." She smiled, Russia smiled back as a heavy blouse landed on his face, he held the hand that cupped his cheek and leaned into it. After a bit Canada spoke up again. "Well um, I'm going to where China is. He has something of mine that I need back, plus I need to make a not so friendly chat with him." She told him in a low tone.
"What did he take from you?" He asked dumbfounded. Canada gave him a 'Are you serious?' Look as she spreaded her left wing. "Wait he just-" Russia cut himself off as Canada turned around and showed him the giant scar from where he ripped her wing out.
"Oh my god.." Russia muttered. "I'm so sorry that happened to you Canada, I wish I could've stopped it." He said as Canada turned around with an ashamed expression. "Hey, what about this. I go with you to go back to China, but when we arrive I'll act like I'm still under his control so I can secretly help you get your wing back and when you have it we can save Germany and arrest China." He offered.
But his plan was too childish, China was a lot more powerful then he acted. And Germany, well if they wanted to save him, it would be a lot harder then they think because technically there are two spirits in one hosts. Leaving the host basically powerless. But Canada understood why Russia would thing that would work.
Russia was only brought back into his reality yesterday, and he's been under that spell for almost the entire war, which is almost a year. "Russia..That's not going to work." Canada admitted with a sigh. "What do you mean?" Russia inquired.
"There not how you remember, there a lot tuffer and powerful." She confessed. "It's best if I take the North rout to them and you take the west rout. You'll get there faster which will buy you enough time for it to look believe able." She said as she turned around and picked up her satchel after attaching the lamp to it.
"It's best if you act like you didn't find me, and when I arrive. Act like you where still under the spell, help in small ways. I promise it will do more then you think." She said as she collected her stuff into the satchel.
"What? N-No I can't leave you alone, what if you get hurt or worse?" He panicked. Canada sighed and stood up and turned around to look at him. "Your memories will return quickly, you will have memories of things you didn't think you did. They should come back quickly so use them to your advantage. And for you worrying about, if I'm alive." She hesitated.
"As long as I'm alive-No, If I die, the humming bird will fall." She said, "What does that mean?" "You'll figure it out." She smiled as she went back to packing everything. She had put the bag on and started walking off the bridge and called. "Au revoir!" With a wave.
"She never lost her touch." Russia smiled, a blush forming on his face.
"Damn it Russia, now I have to be your fucking replacement.."
