Despite my constant efforts, pleadings, and warnings, Ken ignores whatever I have to say concerning the condensed chemicals she calls makeup that she seems to be mixing on my face without much thought. Due to my inability to stay still, Ken thought it necessary to bring Raman and Simmi into the picture. Raman holds my arms behind the chair with just the right amount of care while Simmi tells me fairytales she's cooked up in her head.

"I'm not sure this is working Kendall," I note. My eyeshadow is lighter than I expected, but it's still quite visible. My eyebrows have been the perfect shape ever since I was born and I already had shiny skin. Kendall herself had to admit there wasn't that much work to be done.

"You seem to be taking care of yourself more than I thought," she notes, giving me an impressed look.

"It's a blessing," I bask in her praise.

Once she's done with the little makeup left she lets Raman release my hand and I open my eyes to look at myself. There isn't much difference although I feel very much like Jhene Aiko.

"You're prettier without the makeup though," Raman chirps in quietly. His words kind of throw me off guard because we don't talk that much, and I definitely wasn't expecting him to compliment me so casually. Like he does it every other day like I'm not going to blow up from the addition of yeast into my ego.

"Thanks," I finally say.

"Well, I made sure the makeup isn't too heavy so it doesn't seem like you're trying too hard. We don't want him thinking you care too much," Ken says. She takes the brush and starts brushing my long hair back slowly.

"You know what? I think I'll carry my hair straight tonight," I announce and watch her jaw drop from the mirror.

"But that's what you do every other day!" Ken objects.

"It's just a party, if I doll up now what am I gonna do for Summer formal?" I reason with her.

"Doll up again?" Simmi offers and I roll my eyes at her.

"She does have a point though, besides like I said earlier, her normal look fits her perfectly," Raman says and Ken rolls her own eyes at him.

"Fine then, go wear your clothes. I'll drop you off at school today," she starts pushing me outside her room but I stall.

"Really? What's the occasion?" I tease because she can't actually be dropping me off at school. After all, she never wanted to be a good big sister. Let's face it, Kendall isn't that type of person.

"I've got to get something in that direction either way so go change or I'll leave you at home," I laugh heartily at the look on her face as I leave her room.

I picked out my cloth myself. It's an XL size t-shirt that had "We Were On A Break!" written on it, a reference to the awesome sitcom Friends that none of my family members seem to understand.
I chose a thigh-length faded short to go with it and one of my trainers. Yes, I was attending a party today but I was also going to school.

I got downstairs before Ken did but she came down a moment later, we rushed breakfast before running out to the car. The one I never ever drove, because like, age stuff?

"So summer formal is almost here," Ken starts the moment we drive out of our lawn.

"Yeah, thankfully."

"Did you guys settle on a cordial way to end this facade?"

"He's gonna tell everyone I ended things with him, but of course we'll still be cool."
