"You scared me you dum wit!" I yell, throwing the stick at him which he successfully dodges.
"Sorry, I wasn't sure if it was you or not."
"What are you doing here?" I ask the image of our last conversation suddenly coming to my mind.
"Well I went to your place to see you but Kendall said you weren't there so..". I frown,"So you came here?"
"It was a long shot but you don't really know this place well enough to have secret hideouts,"
"And if I wasn't here?"
"Your old house?"I have to smile at the thought, "Luca that's just crazy, why would you drive all the way up there to apologize?"
"Well you were right and I was stupid to go talk to Kim. Even if this thing is fake no girl deserves that,"I'm suddenly struck with the inability to look him in the eye,
"Hmmm."
"Plus, if it helps, nothing happened between us, as in nothing." He says, coming to stand directly in front of me so I'm forced to look at him."Oh?"
"Yeah, I only entered her living room, nowhere else,"
"Things could've happened in her living room and you didn't have to enter at all,"
"Well it was raining so...and nothing happened."
"So why'd you go?"
"To tell her to back off! That's what a good and real boyfriend would do right?"I snort, "don't ask me you're the one who's dated half of the female population."
He shifts his weight to his left leg, "okay I have not dated half of the female population, that's like 49.6 percent and I've only dated two girls!"
"You know the percentage?" The giggle bursts out of me without my approval,
"It's not the first time I've been accused of such. Just because I'm hot doesn't mean I'm a jerk,"
"Well, you're wrong.""What?"
"49.6 percent is the total average not half,"He stares at me with an unfamiliar look in his eyes that makes me feel overly self-conscious.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?""You could've let me have that," he answers with a small smile and I let myself smile too.
"And let you go around spilling wrong information? That'll be betraying my oath to spread the gospel,"
He chuckles and sits cross-legged on the sand then pats the space beside him as a signal for me to sit too, I settle beside him, facing the opposite side so that I'm watching the moon and he's not.
"So...we good?" He asks once I sigh in relief,
"We were never bad."
"But you're bad with Mara?"
"How did you know?"
"Kendall, what are you going to do?"
"Nothing. I'm going to go home and do nothing."
"I'm with you, whatever you do."
"That's your job boyfriend,"
"Oh really?"
"Of course,"
"Says the girl who's never dated,"
"I've seen enough movies,"
He doesn't reply and for a moment the sea is the only thing we hear,
"I know this is fake," he starts finally and I raise a brow, even though he can't see, at where the conversation is going.
"The relationship part, but we don't have to be fake friends do we?"
"Of course not." I say, turning to look at him, "we're real friends."
"It's confusing." He admits with a sad smirk,
"It is," I say, finding it hard to look away from him, sitting here against the moon, his normally tanned skin looks silvery, and his chocolate brown eyes look golden brown. He's staring at me too, I wonder how I look like right now, hopefully, nothing like I did this morning. If he can even see my face since I'm backing the moon. Oh God, is he really staring into the dark–
"Rachel said to give you this–it is her number," he says suddenly, snapping me out of my reverie.
"Oh? Oh, yeah. I'll call her...or not,"
"What?"
"Is this good? Involving our families too? I mean, once this is over it will be weird for them–""It won't, we're not gonna be enemies or worse, strangers," He fakes a shudder here, "plus, I can't see how any girl can ignore me."
"You haven't met Amba," I say, standing up.
He frowns, "who's that?"
"My older sister. You'll meet her one day, hopefully."
I offer him my hand and he takes it to get up, nearly toppling me down in the process."Rachel likes you," he says after we regain balance and I shrug,
"I'm awesome like that." The sand is swallowing my feet as I walk away, he snorts and starts forward behind me.
"Yeah. You're awesome."
Hmm.
