After about 5 minutes of walking, occational glances at each other and total silence, we FINALLY came across a parking lot. It was the parking for the candy shop named 'Chocolate Nugget Candy Factory' that was probably about 100 years old by now. Like all the other buildings in this town, it was a log shack that had about 3 cars parked in the front of the entrance. There was hay in the middle of the parking lot, mostly for the cowboys that would come across us every now and then. My neighbor's (I mean, used to be neighbor) truck was parked under the tree. Figured, considering he only takes his kids in there to shut them up with a mouthful of candy, even though their about my age now. They still had the same old sign with that '47 red pickup truck under it. It belonged to the owner, Jack Jacob Lewis.

I know, what a weird name? I've met him a couple times before, but I was really little. My mom used to always go in there and flirt with him, like she would any other guy. From the last time I met him, he wasn't very attractive looking. He always has tobacco chew stuck in his teeth. It bugged the hell outta me when he smiled. His teeth were yellow and orange, and brown in the lines seperating the teeth. I shivered at the thought of ever having teeth like that. His hair was black, but it was starting to grow gray streaks. Which, I thought was odd considering he was only 25 when I met him. His face was in full break out mode, and wrinkles all over his face. I really hope that isn't normal for human bodies, because everyone does that around here. I mean, look at my mom?!

"Memories?" He interrupted.

"Whoa what?!" I replied, Jack's image suddenly slipping out of my mind.

"I take that as a yes." He smirked at me, raising his one eyebrow.

"Oh, uh, yeah. What can I say? Its been around here forever." I said, shrugging my shoulders.

"Yes it has. I remember my mom would always take me here just so she could flirt with the owner. It was pretty disgusting. But, hey, I always got my favorite candy for free." He replied, smiling.

"Wow, really? My mom would always try to flirt with him too. I don't get it, he's not even hot." I blurted out.

He laughed. "It's nice to know you pay attention to looks."

He raised his eyebrow once again and smirked at me. I blushed slightly, examining his beautiful face.

"Shut up, I do not. I just don't think he's attractive." I snapped.

"Well, no, his face is ruined by drugs and alcohol.

What do expect?" He questioned me.

"Nothing. God, its just a statement." I yelled, with a hint of annoyment.

He bit his lip, "Sorry, I didn't mean it like that."

I looked up at him and gave him a re-assuring look. "Its okay. Try not to bug me so much, will you?"

"I'll try hard." He joked.

I laughed. "Thank you for helping me. I really appreciate it. You didn't have too, you know?"

He smiled at me, but this time it wasn't a teasing smile like usual.

"No problem. I'd love to help you with...moving out." The last 2 words he said with heavy suspicion.

I just nodded my head and said "Well....thank you."

"You're welcome." He nodded back, as we stopped at the pile of hay.

He faced me, staring deeply into my eyes, putting his hand in his pocket of his jeans. Trying not to blush, I tucked my hair behind my ear and looked away.

"I'm sorry, I don't even know your name." He asked, tilting his head a little.

"It's....Lydia. Lydia Marie....Thompson!" I stumbled over my words.Of course I couldn't tell him the truth. I couldn't tell anyone the truth for that matter. What if my mom actually cared, and shewent around looking for me. If no one knew my real name, there wouldn't be a problem. Besides, I'm not sure if he's totally not bad news yet.
