Brianna’s POV.
As soon as I left Drake and Clara alone, I saw the chair I sat on while Amanda stayed by me the entire time. My wound was beginning to ache once again, so I decided to limp all the way to the chair which my blood clearly gave its brand new color. The chair used to be white, with white cushions, so I pretty much ruined the chair. Great. I rolled my eyes, and sat on it anyway.
The cushions were still damp, which meant the horrible nightmare that had happened didn’t happen too long ago. I lifted up my shirt, and stroked the cut softly with my fingertips. As soon as I touched the spot Drake had touched earlier, the memory of him staring into my eyes drowned out all of my other thoughts.
It frustrated me that his image would not escape the core of my thoughts. What I should be thinking of right now is I need to figure out where I am going to stay!! I just ran away, and my mother could walk through that door any second and knowing my luck, that was just about to happen.
As I tried to sweep Drake’s image out of my mind, I heard footsteps walking up toward me. I quickly pulled down my shirt and acted like I was just sitting there, like normal.
“Hey.”
I looked up and saw Amanda’s face, smiling. “Hey.” I whispered.
She kneeled down on her knees. “Feeling any better?”
“A little bit. Not much though.” I shrugged.Amanda nodded, completely dazed. “Drake told me he was worried about you.”
And there he is again. “I know, he won’t stop saying that. I’m fine, he’s just stubborn.”
She laughed. “Sounds like you’re the stubborn one to me.”
“Maybe I am. Sue me.” I laughed. “But, seriously, no worries. Thanks again for your help.”
“Oh, no problem. I would’ve wanted the help. So, are you from around here?”
I gulped. Should I say yes? Or should I say no? I’ve already lied about my name.
“No, I’ve never been here before.”
“Oh, eh, it was probably a shock then. There aren’t a lot of very nice people around here.”
“Yeah, I’ve noticed.” I nodded. I figured I would lie. I mean, why not? I don’t want her to know who I am.
“Yeah, you better be careful. It gets mighty rough out here.” Amanda shook her head.
“How so?” I asked, pretending like I was clueless when I had a perfect idea what she meant.
“Oh, I don’t know if you want to know the details.” Amanda laughed.
“Oh. Yeah, guess not. So far it hasn’t been fun.” I gulped.
Amanda sighed. “I know. Boy I’m so glad Drake and Michael beat the crap out of that guy.”
I nodded. “Me too. By the way, are you and Michael friends?”
“Yeah, we are. We act like we are related. He’s two years older.” Amanda said, playfully rolling her eyes.
“Wow! That’s cool. So you guys grew up here?” I questioned.
“No. Never. This place is the WORST place to grow up in. I feel sorry for the people who grow up here, especially teenagers. I grew up in a small town though. Blue Snake, Nevada. Ever heard of it?”
