I followed my parents to the ocean where they dove down. I didn't understand it back then, why dragons were staring at us and flashing their scales. I just growled at them and continued, sure they were talking bad about us. (Little did I know they weren't, they were just surprised to see how well I swam even though I was just born.)
Coral picked me up and put me on her back. I snuggled close to her, thankful as my wings were tired, to say the least.
When we got to the 'Deep Palace', my mother dove in, Gill waving to the watching dragons. As soon as mother reached the throne room, a dragon came up to her.
He was... dark green and I did not like him from the moment I laid eyes on him. He looked at mother with great respect. I felt a growl rising up in my throat, and I barely managed to hang back. The only reason I did was because mother looked at him with shining eyes.
My father flashed something at Whirlpool and so did my mother. Then Whirlpool flashed something at them and they flashed some more until I got so tired of bright lights that I growled at them. They didn't hear. So I tried again. Then I tried again.
     Until finally I roared.
The dragons around me jumped until they realized what it was. My mother came over to me and picked me up, flashing something at me.
     I bit her talon.
She let go of me with a yelp. The three dragons glanced at each other before Coral gestured for everyone to fly out onto land.
"I think it's Aquatic that got her so loud." Gill said once we were on dry land.
"What do you mean, Gill?" My mother asked. Gill looked over at her and explained something about me not understanding why everyone was flashing lights at each other and that they needed to explain Aquatic to me.
What the heck is Aquatic? I thought angrily. Then Gill turned to me.
"So little one, we're going to tell you about Aquatic. Your lesson won't be until you're a bit older, but you should know about it so that you can know that dragons aren't just flashing lights at each other.
"So, Aquatic is our underwater language. We use it when we want to talk in the Deep Palace, or under the ocean in particular. Since we can't pop up to the surface every time we need to talk. You know."
I stared at him for a while before nodding. Gill clapped his talons together with glee, and Coral looked pleased when she said her next sentence.
"You're going to learn from Whirlpool right here!" She said cheerfully. I cringed. No one noticed but my father.
"Listen. You're going to get a good lesson after that slime ball teaches you. You're going to learn from me." He said. I jumped happily. Gill smiled and we dove back to the Deep Palace with the others.
The rest of the day was spent by me watching dragons flash their lights at each other and nod. Others glanced at me and jumped when they saw my unwavering gaze.
Then I was put in a room with my parents, who fell asleep almost instantly.
I'm gonna sneak out. I thought. I wanna see the world! But if mother and father are royals, aren't there guards outside these doors? Would they mind if they saw the new SeaWing princess swimming away without a mother or father to watch her? Will they look at each other and decide that one will follow me to keep me safe? What will happen? Either way, I really, really want to explore and figure out what this annoying tingling in my claws is. But, I guess I can find that out when I find out how to get out of here.

I sat back and started devising a plan.
