...Of A Past Life

It had been about three weeks since Audrey and I had our 'argument'. I had spent the weeks pushing myself further into finally finding out who this man was that did that horrible act to Nikki...or that's at least what I would've said if it was a perfect world.

"So what did you do during those three weeks then?"

"Moped around and left the phone in a pair of jeans, not even caring about myself."

"Well the reports said you were seen around town and at the Maye household."

"I did go and visit them, but it was never for an extended stay. Maybe for just a few times a week, and only an hour at a time."

"That fits with our reports but now I want to talk to you about what happened the day of the incident."

"Well it started off the same way as most mornings did..."

I slowly opened my eyes as I looked over to my alarm clock.

"3 pm, I guess now is a better time to get up than any."

I pulled myself to the edge of my bed and lazily sat up and rubbed my eyes, and like most wake ups as of late I reached for a bottle of whiskey which to my dissapointment was empty...like it always was every morning.

"Fuck this. I need a cellar for more alcohol."

I pushed myself off my bed and stood on unsteady legs since..well I was still pretty pissed. I stumbled my way into the bathroom which was surprisingly still somewhat clean since it was pretty rare that I was actually sick from drinking.

"I suppose I can be thankful to something I used to do."

I looked into the mirror and saw the man standing opposite it. Hair desheveled and black bags under my eyes, and not to mention the scar now fully shown, not even trying to hide it.

"God I look like shit."

That's when my phone vibrated in my pocket so I took it out and saw that Jessie had sent me a message.

Jessie: Hey there honey, I know you're going through a tough time right now but we need to have a chat. So please come over and we'll talk.

"I really can't be fucked. But I suppose if Jessie wants to talk then I might as well humour her."

I put my phone back on the counter and looked back to the mirror.

"You disgust me."

With one quick punch I shattered the glass and covered the basin in shards.

"Let's get this over with."

I walked back out of the bathroom and changed into some cleaner clothes and made my way out of my apartment.

"Is the contract exclusive?" He asked me.

"No, but I am telling you before it goes live."

"And why are you doing this?"

"Let's just say I know you two have a little bit of unfinished business."

He went quiet for a moment.

"As if contemplating what to say I presume."

"How much?" He asked.

"Ten million dollars if you can kill him within the next twelve hours. If not then it's five million dollars, the same as the rest." I told him.

"I'll only need six hours."
