Chapter 3: The Wedding

About a few months later, we picked a date for the wedding. And we decided to have it at sunset. Everyone set everything up. The tent, the chairs, the lights, Frypan cooked the food, including the cake. Jorge decided to be our marriage officiant. Sonya and Harriet decided to be the bridesmaids. Brenda decided to be the flower girl. Newt picked Thomas to be his best man. Of course, Minho got a little jealous but he didn't mind at all. Gally, he didn't really care. Aris was a little shy to be the best man. He's always shy. So Minho and Gally decided to be the ring bearers. Vince decided to walk me down the aisle as if he were my father, even though he's not.

As soon as the wedding day came, Sonya and Harriet helped me get my on and they did my . I never felt so excited in my life. Newt and I are actually about to become husband and wife.

*time skip*

We're finally about to have the wedding! I'm a little nervous, yet mostly excited! I held onto Vince's arm and he walked me down the aisle. I see Newt at the end of the aisle. The way he's looking at me, it's full of love and it's comforting. I blush. He also looks so handsome! I see Jorge being our officiant. I see Thomas as Newt's best man and Minho, Aris, and Gally are with him. Minho and Gally are holding the rings. Frypan is in the kitchen, taking care of the food. I see Sonya and Harriet as the bridesmaids. They look so pretty! Brenda threw some flowers. Is this literally real?? As Vince and I make it down the aisle, he lets go of me and I look at Newt's brown eyes. I can't keep my eyes off of those eyes.

"Amigos, we have gathered here to wed Newt and Jacqui. May I have the rings, por favor?" Jorge says as he starts officiating. Minho and Gally give Jorge the rings and then Jorge gives one ring to Newt.

"Newt, place this ring on Jacqui's finger. And say your vows." Jorge says to Newt. Newt puts his ring on my finger and starts to say his vow.

"Jacqui...I know I've been saying I loved you so many times and that I expressed myself to you a lot, but I'd like to do it again. Ever since you've showed up in the Glade, I fell in love with you the moment I laid my eyes on you. I never knew there would be a girl-Greenie showing up. None of us Gladers did. But I'm glad you showed up. I've enjoyed every moment I've spent with you. Even the times when you've cried on my shoulder, I enjoyed those moments. Whenever I get through you and cheer you up, I enjoy seeing your happy face. I love your angelic voice, your kind and strong personality, your bravery, your sensitive soul, your beautiful looks. When you said you were insecure about how you look, I'm glad you told me that because I know what's it's like to feel insecure. Cuz I've felt like that before. Before I met you. I felt empty, pathetic, insecure, and lonely before I met you. When I'm around you, I feel safe. I feel calm. Happy. I wanted you safe as well, but you risked your life to save mine. You're a very brave girl. If you hadn't snuck in the berg, I would've been dead from the Flare and all these new happy moments with you wouldn't be happening. I'm alive because of you. All this is happening because of you. I love you so much. You've changed my life, Jacqui. And I promise to love you for the rest of my life, to comfort you, and make you be my wife." Newt says his vow in that soothing British accent as he looks at me in the eyes. It made me cry tears of joy.

"Excellente, Newt. Now, Jacqui, place this ring on Newt's finger. And say your vow." Jorge says to me as I put my ring on Newt's finger and I start to say my vow.

"Newt...even though my memories were gone, I still thought I'd never find love. I never knew I could trust anyone and open up to anyone since it's hard for me to trust sometimes. But...when I met you, I've never felt so safe and trusting with anybody, but you. You understand what I'm going through, you comfort me, you say inspiring words to me that just touch my heart and make me love you more than you could ever know. You have a very soothing voice, your accent I can't get enough of, and your kindness I don't deserve, but, since I've been through a lot and you always do your best to make me happy, and I'm always kind to others, I actually do deserve your kindness in return. If I never met you, I would've remained a shy and scared girl the rest of my life, but, the more I've been around you and hanging out with you, the more safe and braver I felt. Even though you needed me safe and I'm scared to die, I couldn't let you die. I had to do something or else you would've been gone from my life. You're the only person who makes me feel safe and comforted. Without you, I feel empty and lost. Just like you did before you met me. I love you, Newt, so shucking much. I promise to love you for the rest of my life and start a life with you, have a family with you, and I promise to always be happier than I was before and than I am now. I'll be happy for you. Especially since after all we've been through, it's in the past. This is our new life now. And we'll have happy memories with each other and not let anything come between us." I finish my vow with a big smile on my face and tears streaming down my cheeks and I look right in Newt's eyes.
