Chapter 10: Angelina's Nightmare

While Newt and I were sleeping, a piercing scream woke us up. We immediately recognized it. It was Angelina! She must be having a bad dream! We both get up and run to her room. We see her tossing and turning and whimpering. Newt runs over to her side and shakes her gently to try to wake her up.

"Angelina! Sweetheart! Wake up! Shhh!" Newt tries to calm her down and wake her up. She wakes up and breathes heavily in which she starts crying. Newt holds her in his arms and rocks her back and forth.

"Da...Daddy...! I had a bad dream...!" Angelina cries in Newt's chest. Newt rubs her back and shushes her.

"Shhh...I'm here, baby girl...It's okay...shh...Daddy's here...I've got you...You're okay, baby girl...Calm down..." Newt whispers on her head while rocking her back and forth and rubbing her back. He kisses her head. I walk over to them.

"Hey, honey. What was your dream about? Do you wanna talk about it?" I ask her in concern.

"I...I was walking around the Safe Haven...and then...I...I heard a voice calling my name...I went to see where it was coming from...and then...a big monster came out of nowhere and took me away..." she sobs as she tells us her bad dream.

"Shhh...you're safe...We're all safe, yeah? It was just a dream...It wasn't real...You're safe with us, baby...We'll protect you..." Newt comforts and hugs her as I rub her back. I'm feeling a little left out since Angelina seems attached to Newt more than me, but I don't wanna let them know.

"Can...Can I sleep with you guys tonight...?" Angelina asks us while sniffling.

"Of course you can, sweetheart." I answer with a sympathetic smile.

Newt picks her up and carries her to our bed. She sleeps between me and Newt. We wrap our arms around her in order to keep her safe and make sure she doesn't have nightmares again. We all go back to sleep.
