(Picture is what Brightkit/paw looks like, this is like an older version of her though)

Foxpaw had fallen into a jog. He was tired from running, but he still wanted to get to the Treeclan border and see Brightkit. Or maybe she was BrightPAW now. He wasn't sure which one.

It was dark out, only the moonlight could guide his paws. The stars provided little light. Clouds were over the thin, quarter-moon. Is Starclan mad at me for doing this? He asked himself in thought.

The tom could faintly smell the Treeclan border. His tail twitched nervously. "Oh Brightkit..." He whispered wistfully. Foxpaw was exhausted, even from just jogging. He panted heavily, but kept going towards the border. "Please be there." He mumbled.

Foxpaw smiled softly as he saw the faint outline of the oak tree that marked the border. Inside, his heart was pounding. He was nervous, yet anxious. He had so much to tell Brightkit. Maybe she had some things to tell him. Or maybe, she hated his guts and wanted to kill him. So many thoughts ran through his mind.

Foxpaw slowed as he approached the border, his eyes narrowed. He took a breath and stopped right at the border.

The apprentice scented the air for any sign of Brightkit. It was faint, but it was there. The sweet scent smelled like honeysuckle to him. It was probably because Brightkit had fallen into a beehive while they were playing together.

~Flashback~

"Foxkit! You can't catch me!" Brightkit squeaked as she ran outside of Treeclan territory. The ginger kit followed her with a giddy smile. "Brightkit! I'm on your tail!" He replied, his green eyes narrowed in determination. He was closing in on his friend, who looked over her shoulder in shock.

Brightkit ran faster towards some bushes, where she hoped she could shake Foxkit off her trail. Foxkit gritted his teeth as he chased after the swift she cat. She was fast, but Foxkit was faster. He didn't have much endurance, but he had speed.

Foxkit pushed himself into a sprint and quickly gained ground. His paws barely touched the ground. A smirk crept onto his face as he leapt, landing right on Brightkit's shoulders. Brightkit let out an oomph of surprise as she feel to the ground. "Got ya!" Foxkit said excitedly, he was standing on top of Brightkit, preventing her from getting up. "Yeah, you did." Brightkit said, before giving an annoyed look,"Now get off you big badger!"

Foxkit climbed off of the she cat and ducked his head embarrassedly. "Sorry Brightkit..." Brightkit just giggled,"It's fine. "

Brightkit stood up and shook her pelt. It was messy, but all the dirt and dust was gone from it. She opened her mouth and tasted the air. Her face lit up into a grin,"Do you smell that?!" She asked excitedly, Foxkit tilted his head,"Smell what?" Brightkit rolled her eyes,"Taste the air... I think there might be honey around here!" Foxkit perked up,"Honey?!" He grinned, he hadn't tasted it before. Brightkit nodded excitedly,"Seems to be coming from," she scented the air,"That way!" She pointed towards some trees with her tail.

Foxkit nodded,"Let's go get it!" His voice filled with excitement. Brightkit nodded, her eyes gleaming, and walked towards the direction in which she had scented the honey. Foxkit followed her, his tail twitching.

They followed the scent anxiously. Brightkit could already taste the honey. Foxkit was a little cautious though, where did honey come from again? He had heard Fireclaw talking to Silverheart about it before.

Foxkit and Brightkit grinned as the scent grew stronger. Brightkit looked at her friend,"Look!" She pointed with her tail to an oak tree,"I think the honey is over there!" Foxkit nodded and turned to Brightkit,"How are we going to get it?" He squeaked

"We go in there and grab the honeycomb!" Brightkit replied, her tail swishing. Foxkit dipped his head in reply,"Okay. "

The two 4-moon old kits walked, or rather bounced, towards the tree. Their eyes wide with anticipation.

They approached the tree and almost immediately, a sweet scent filled the air. It was all they could smell, it was that strong. Brightkit squealed,"Honey!" She was looking up at something. It was round... ish. With weird rings around it. The thing was a golden gray in color with a little hole in it. "There's honey in there!" "In there?" Foxkit was skeptical. How could honey be in that? "Yeah! Berrypaw told me about it!" She exclaimed. "Alright..." Foxkit replied.

Brightkit padded over to the strange thing and jumped on it. It wasn't that high off the ground. Foxkit looked up as she climbed it. When she reaches the top, Brightkit started to jump, trying to get the honey out. She clawed at the tough hide and growled in frustration. Until, finally, the thing started to make a cracking noise. Brightkit's face lit up in a smile.

The thing fell to ground and a buzzing noise erupted from it. Brightkit jumped off of the thing and stared at it, confused. "What?" She asked in shock as what seemed like millions of black things burst out. Foxkit's eyes widened,"Brightkit! Run!"

Brightkit didn't have to be told twice. But, first, she grabbed one of the pieces of honeycomb before running off, followed closely by Foxkit. The black things, in which Brightkit had recognized as 'bees' chases after them.

"Foxkit!" She said, though it was muffled,"To the river!" Foxkit nodded and ran harder. The buzzing noise got closer and closer. Until finally, a sharp pain hit Foxkit's shoulder. "Ow!" He screeched. It felt like fire, the pain burned. "Brightkit!" He squeaked in pain,"It hurts!" "Foxkit! I know it hur- Ow!" She was cut off as she too got stung,"Just get to the river!"

Foxkit ran, despite the stinging pain. He spotted the river a little ways forwards and pushed himself as hard as he could. He ran as fast as his short legs would let him. Brightkit followed, her eyes narrowed with determination.

The two ran and leaped into the river. Foxkit winced as he hit the cold water hard and was immediately swallowed underwater. He opened his eyes and saw the swirling blue water filled with fish. He paddled with his paws and gasped for air as his head popped out of the water. Foxkit turned and saw that the bees were gone and Brightkit was paddling towards shore. He followed her.

The cold water soothed his bee sting, numbing it so he wouldn't feel it. Foxkit climbed out of the river, his ginger fur soaked and sticking to him. He coughed up water and shook his pelt, sending water droplets everywhere. Brightkit, who was in similar condition, laughed. "Foxkit! You look like a drowned mouse!" She laughed, rolling onto her back. "Oh I do? Have you seen you? Yuh wet squirrel!" He laughed and jumped onto his friend.

"Oooh! I almost forgot!" Brightkit squeaked, getting up from under Foxkit and running to a bush. Foxkit sat down, curious to what Brightkit had. The ginger and white she-kit returned moments later, carrying a... honeycomb? "Brightkit? You still have that?" Foxkit asked, a grin growing on his face. Brightkit nodded happily, setting the honeycomb down. "Come try it!" She told him, then proceeding to lick some of the sticky honey. It stuck to her fur.

Foxkit bounced over and leaned down towards the honey, his eyes gleaming. He took a taste and his face lit up as the flavor burst onto his tongue. It was so good! So tasty! "This is amazing!" Foxkit squeaked, "It is, isn't i?" Brightkit replied, taking another taste.

"Thanks Brightkit!" "Anytime dear Foxkit!"

~Flashback Ends~

Foxpaw sighed, good times. Good times. Is Brightkit still like that? The clever little she cat that he knew and loved?

Only if she was there, but she wasn't. Foxpaw whimpered, her scent was faint. Obviously she had been there, but she was gone.

Probably thinks I'm a terrible friend! Foxpaw thought bitterly, But I am... for forgetting her.

He sighed, he'd have to go back to camp. Without seeing Brightkit. With his tail drooped and a hole in his heart, Foxpaw ran back to camp, a sad look on his face.
