As the patrol of three entered camp, Wingheart headed straight for Swiftstar's den. Foxpaw gulped, what if he got exiled? What if he got killed?!

Calm down, calm down, Swiftstar is fair, he wouldn't do that. Foxpaw told himself, but he was still scared.

Cats turned and stared. Mostly at Foxpaw. Who wouldn't? He was covered in blood and barely any of it was his. His only noticeable wound was the one Perry gave him on his muzzle. But Foxpaw had plenty of wounds that no cat could see. Why? Because those wounds were on the inside. He felt them. Like a strike to the heart. Foxpaw was ashamed of himself and a bit frightened.

Fireclaw nodded to Foxpaw,"Cats may stare, but they'll respect you." He told him softly, but Foxpaw didn't feel much better. Respect? Of course he wanted to have the respect of his clanmates, but not like this! Not by doing this! Not by practically killing two poor kittypets! But now, Foxpaw couldn't do anything about it. He had already done it.

Lionpaw and Bravepaw were nowhere to be seen, but Honeyflower, oh Honeyflower, she had a look of pure horror on her face. What cat wouldn't though? Seeing their son covered in blood with barely a scratch on them.

"Foxpaw?" She whispered as she walked over to him,"W-wwhat happened?" "Um..." Foxpaw looked up to Fireclaw for guidance on what to say, but he simply shrugged,"Well, I got into a fight?" He said in more of a question, Foxpaw could hear his voice get a little higher in pitch.

Honeyflower nodded, her gaze darkening. "I'll just go then." She said softly, retreating to the Warrior's Den with her tail drooped. Foxpaw stood there, still as can be. Was Honeyflower disappointed in him? Yes! You're being just like Fireclaw! A voice in his head hissed at him.

Foxpaw let out a whimper at this. Fireclaw turned and looked at him,"Stop doing that. It makes you look weak. " He told Foxpaw bluntly. The ginger tabby nodded,"Sorry Fireclaw..." Fireclaw nodded and replied,"Just be careful with what you say, all will be fine." Was that... warning in his voice?

"Foxpaw. Come here so we can have a talk about this... incident." Swiftstar's head popped out of his den. His eyes were narrowed. Wingheart walked out of the den with a bit of a guilty look on his face. Why? Foxpaw thought, You were just reporting to the leader?

More like getting you killed! Or worse... exiled! A voice hissed at the startled apprentice. It was the same voice he had heard when he had attacked Perry and Faith. Cold, cruel, and it belonged to what Foxpaw thought was an older tom. Who are you? Foxpaw asked mentally, half-hoping the voice wouldn't answer.

Me? The voice replied almost mockingly, I'm Heronshade, one of the greatest warriors who had ever lived.

Why are you in my head? Are you the reason I attacked those innocent cats?! Foxpaw asked in a bit of a panic. His breathing quickened and grew into heavy pants. Actually, I guess you could say I'm here to guide you... Heronshade told him with malice in his voice that was almost impossible to pick up, And yes, I did cause you to attack those mouse-brained kittypets. Heronshade said after a pause

But why? I didn't want to hurt them. Why must you guide me? Who sent you? What- Foxpaw was cut off from his mental rant by Swiftstar, "Foxpaw. Now." He said with a slightly annoyed tone. His amber eyes were seeming to stare right into Foxpaw's soul. "Sorry Swiftstar..." He apologized quickly, surprised at how hoarse his voice sounded. We'll finish this later. Heronshade told Foxpaw, Just follow my lead now and I'll help you. Okay? Oh, and don't talk to me. It'll do things to your voice if you talk to me too much.

Foxpaw didn't reply. Was Heronshade really going to help him? If so, how? He was just some voice in his head that was talking to him. Am I going crazy? Foxpaw thought worriedly, Not at all Foxpaw. Heronshade said with a cold chuckle, Not at all.

Foxpaw let out a breath and walked towards Swiftstar's den with his tail drooped. He could sense his clanmates looking at him and hear them whispering amongst themselves.

Ignore them, Heronshade hissed. Foxpaw said nothing as he walked slowly into the oak-tree-den. Swiftstar followed behind him and Foxpaw flattened his ears back.

Swiftstar sat down by his moss-and-feather nest,"Sit." He said evenly. Foxpaw obeyed, not wanting to anger his leader.

He glanced around at his surroundings; the oak-wood around him was a golden/brown color and the entrance had moss hanging over it. Sunlight leaked in through small cracks, dappling get the den with spots of light. A small pool of water was towards the back of the den with a half-eaten squirrel laying next to it. Foxpaw dug his claws into the sandy ground of the den.

"Now, Foxpaw, can you please explain what exactly happened? And why you are soaked with blood?" Swiftstar asked so calmly, it was like he was asking about the weather or such. Foxpaw was surprised at this, but shook his head before saying,"Yes Swiftstar."

Okay, Foxpaw, repeat after me. Heronshade instructed, 'I was on the patrol with Wingheart and Fireclaw, Tigerfur had refused to come.'

"I was on the patrol with Wingheart and Fireclaw, Tigerfur had refused to come." Foxpaw repeated, 'When we came across some kittypet on our territory, trying to steal our prey'. Heronshade said and Foxpaw repeated that to Swiftstar as well.

'We the told him to leave and he refused',Heronshade continued, 'so, Fireclaw told me to teach him a lesson'. Foxpaw spoke these words exactly how they were told to him. Swiftstar sat still, listening intently to 'Foxpaw'.

After a few more minutes of explaining how the kittypet wouldn't leave, Foxpaw felt a strange feeling. It was like thorns pricking into every inch of his pelt. Like a million fire ants biting him. Foxpaw couldn't let out a sound, he sat perfectly still, as if nothing was going on. He had no control to ask for help. Heronshade! What's happening! Foxpaw cried inside his head, the only freedom he had were the thoughts in his mind.

He got no reply from Heronshade. It was like the named warrior was gone from his mind. But why can't I move!? Foxpaw whimpered, Swiftstar tilted his head,"Foxpaw? Can you continue on?" He asked, clearly confused by the apprentice's actions. Who wouldn't be though? Foxpaw had been explaining what had happened, but then stopped and sat perfectly still like a stone, saying nothing and not moving a muscle.

Foxpaw was unable to move. It scared him greatly, this did. No control of his actions. The pain started to numb and Foxpaw still could not move. No matter how much he tried, he couldn't even twitch a whisker.

Heronshade! Foxpaw called out one last time hopelessly, but this time, Heronshade actually answered him.

Easy, Foxpaw. Calm down. I'm just... hmmm... taking over for a little bit... Heronshade chuckled. It happened so quickly that Foxpaw couldn't do anything as he was plummeted into his own mind. Alone into pitch black darkness.

Chapter 13! Is Foxpaw really going insane? And who is Heronshade? A figment of Foxpaw's imagination? Or a real cat? Well, comment and vote. I'll update soon.
