The Rise of Foxstar ( Warrior Cat Fanfiction)

Chapter 6

It had been a moon since he had met Brightkit. They had met at the border to talk and they were careful not to be noticed.

Foxkit looked forward to seeing his friend as often as he could. Which was once every two nights.

Foxkit was being groomed by his mother. Lionkit, Bravekit, and Sunkit had already had their turn while Dewkit watched with amusement.

"Honeyflower.." Foxkit groaned,"I look fine." Today was his apprentice ceremony and Honeyflower was desperate to make them look their bests.

"All those old enough to catch their own prey gather under Moss Rock for a clan meeting!" A howl from outside came. It was Swiftstar.

Foxkit struggled away from his mother and ran to where his litter mates were. Lionkit turned and snarled at him. Foxkit whimpered and backed away.

Lionkit and Bravekit chuckled while Sunkit merely sat there with his eyes closed. Foxkit looked up as Swiftstar began to speak.

"Today, four of our kits will become apprentices," Swiftstar smiled," Lionkit, Bravekit, Sunkit, and Foxkit; kits of Honeyflower and Fireclaw. Please step forward to become apprentices. "

The litter mates stepped forward, their eyes wide with excitement. Even Lionkit seemed happy.

"Lionkit. From this day forward until you earn your warrior name you shall be known as Lionpaw. Blackfur, you are brave and skilled in battle, share these qualities with your new apprentice." Swiftstar said loudly.

Blackfur, a tom with a pelt like his name and green eyes, stepped forward and touched noses with the newly named Lionpaw. He went and sat back down, followed by his new apprentice who sat next to him.

"Bravekit, from this day forward until you earn your warrior name you shall be known as Bravepaw. Streamheart," Swiftstar said looking at a gray and white she at fondly," You are clever and strong, share this with Bravepaw. "

Streamheart smiled and padded towards Bravepaw, excitement in her clear blue eyes, and touched noses with him. Bravepaw followed his mentor back to where she sat and puffed out his chest. Streamheart was a great warrior and an amazing mentor. It was considered an honor for her to a cat's mentor. Foxkit was kind of jealous of Bravepaw, he got an amazing warrior for a mentor, he could only wonder who his mentor would be. There weren't many warriors in the clan, but some older apprentices would become warriors soon.

"Sunkit. You have requested to become a Medicine Cat. Silverheart has accepted." Swiftstar announced, Foxkit was shocked. By the looks of it, so were Bravepaw and Lionpaw.

"Sunkit from this day forward until you earn your Medicine Cat name you shall be known as Sunpaw. Silverheart you are a kind and skilled Medicine Cat, please teach him all you know about the mysterious world of being a Medicine Cat. "

Silverheart approached her new apprentice gracefully. If she were a warrior she would have no trouble finding a mate.

She touched noses with Sunpaw and Foxkit felt dread. His brother, his only brother who didn't hurt him, wouldn't be training with him. Foxkit's tail drooped, who would help him with Bravepaw and Lionpaw?

"Finally, Foxkit. Foxkit from this day forward until you earn your warrior name you shall be known as Foxpaw. Tigerfur," Foxpaw froze, Tigerfur. He was a strong warrior alright, but he was harsh and cruel. He wanted perfection and expected it. It didn't help that Tigerfur was about three-four times Foxpaw's size.

"You are a strong and skillful warrior, pass this on to Foxpaw. " Tigerfur grimly walked towards Foxpaw. He seemed disappointed that he got Foxpaw as an apprentice.

Well, I didn't want you as my mentor! Foxpaw thought with a silent growl. Tigerfur would surely push him past his limits. The only standard that Tigerfur had was his own.

Tigerfur had to lean down to get to eye level with Foxpaw. He scarcely touched noses with the small Tom before he retreated to the back, next to Blackfur and Lionpaw.

Foxpaw walked back to where his mother was and leaned into her golden fur. Honeyflower leaned down and whispered," I'm so proud of you. My kit. An apprentice!" She licked the top of his head lovingly.

"Lionpaw! Bravepaw! Sunpaw! Foxpaw!" Leafclan yowled. Foxpaw's demeanor was changed as he heard his new name being called out. Pride filled him and he puffed out his chest proudly.

"Clan meeting dismissed!" Swiftstar said and jumped off of Moss Rock, going to talk with his deputy, a long haired black she cat name Hollybreeze. Hollybreeze actually had an apprentice named Mousepaw. Foxpaw had talked to Mousepaw once, when Cloudwhisker had asked him to get her.

Foxpaw nervously walked up to the large tom that was his mentor. "Tigerfur? What are we doing first?" He asked, trying to keep his voice from quivering. Tigerfur was an intimidating cat. Treeclan warned their apprentices not to take him on in battle. He was well known for being so powerful in battle. Crowpaw had told him that Tigerfur had scared off a fox just by looking at him.

"I'll just show you the territory. " Tigerfur said with a bored expression.

Foxpaw nodded, excitement filling him. Even though he had been outside camp before, he had never explored the territory. He just went to see Brightkit.

Tigerfur padded towards the entrance and exited. Foxpaw followed him.
