They had stopped the Wyrm.

They had defeated the Oathbound.

They had reasoned with and befriended Song.

So why wasn't Conor feeling better?

Conor walked through the halls of Greenhaven castle, back drooping pathetically (Sorry Conor). His eyes were burning from days without sleep, his limbs ached from not being rested, and his stomach felt like a pool of acid bubbling because he hadn't eaten.

Briggan still hadn't emerged.

They had barely managed to fight off the Oathbound with Briggan and Uraza out of commission, and they had barely been able to survive Song, who was now helping them as best as she could. Throughout the whole thing, even after the Wyrm was defeated, the wolf still hadn't yet returned from passive state. Abeke had seemed just as drained - Uraza hadn't returned either, and Conor had a terrible feeling that she felt responsible.

Conor did too.

He nearly his room, and wearily opening the door, flopped tiredly onto the bed, sighing in exhaustion and sadness. Some part of him wondered how long it would take Briggan to come back, how long until he saw his wolf again.

The other part of him knew that Briggan wasn't coming back.

But in was in the following days when he felt his wolf tattoo start to tingle, like it was vibrating within him, and a little spark of hope was ignited. Could Briggan be emerging from passive state soon? Or was this something else?

He still wasn't coming back, though Conor didn't know.

He should of spent more time with the wolf.

Because he was gone now.

And Conor would definitely feel the impact.

Abeke loathed herself.

The loss of her leopard had hit her so hard - she knew she couldn't function without her. She knew Conor held on to that pointless little flicker of hope that told him that Briggan might be back, but Abeke didn't. She knew Uraza was gone. And she knew who was at fault.

She shouldn't have supposed Uraza unto passive state, she should have expected that they would have defeated the Wyrm, and she should have known that they would have been fine. But she had been so stupid, and she had been selfish, and she was to blame for her Spirit Animal's death. Gone forever. All that was left was a faint mark on her skin, resembling that of a leopard.

What an terrible excuse to replace her leopard.

But  few days later, Abeke couldn't help but feel a twinge of hope when she felt her tattoo begin to buzz and vibrate like something was stirring inside, like Itaza was trying to make her way out.

Little did Abeke know, Uraza was.

But not in the way Abeke was expected.

And it was going to change her forever.
