Ada

I squint, my mouth is dry, sticky with saliva fighting with the nausea feeling. How the smell of wine last night was intoxicating, yet this morning it is definitely adding to the nausea. I groan, arising from my pit of cushions realising I never closed the curtains in the living room last night so the sun is blaring through the living room windows. I move my legs away from the sunlight just like a vampire would before it starts to set alight. My head thumps and the wine feels unsettled in my stomach, I stagger across the floor rushing to the bathroom as water fills my mouth which is always the tragic sign of throwing up.
What an absolute mess I'm in. I sit up against the wall with my head in my hands as Jaxon breaking up with me replays over and over again in my mind. Luckily, I'm not wearing makeup because it's more than likely that it would be smeared all over my face by now. I vow to myself I will not shed another tear over him today. Just as I slowly pick myself up from the floor I hear a noise, like a door bell sound. I walk out into the living room confused, walking over to the front door and peering through the peep hole. Strange, I don't know this man. I unbolt the locks and open the door as he rings the doorbell that I never knew I had once more.
"Miss Rose?" The man chirped.
"Yeah that's me." I confirm as I stand there watching him pull out an iPhone box from his bag.
"The phone has been set up for you to use straight away. If you could sign here please." He says as he presses buttons on a device and passes it to me to sign the screen. I take the box from his hands and thank him as I close the door behind me. It's my work phone that Richard had couriered. I pull out the phone and find my email inbox. I walk about the room opening emails and responding to the ones I can then I come across an unread email from Christopher Hayes. I'm sure this is my new boss.

'Hi Ada,

You must be aware by now that I will be replacing Richard and you will be working for me from immediate effect.

I'm sure you were happy with your pay incentive that was rewarded you? Richard has sung your praises so I am expecting a lot from you. :)

If you need any questions answered then please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards

Chris'

Oh yes, my new boss. I should really respond, I don't want to get off on the wrong foot with him and he thinks I'm too rude and obnoxious before he's even started his new position. I put the cushions back on the sofa and sit myself down to reply.

'Good morning Chris,

Richard has already communicated to me that he will be leaving the company and therefore your good self will be replacing him as the new CFO.

I am very pleased with the new offer given to me and I'm extremely grateful that I am thought highly enough of to be rewarded in such a way.

I don't have any questions for now but when I do, I'll be sure to contact you.

Kind Regards

Ada'

Now that I am up to date with my email, I feel it is time to get myself showered. I am desperate for some food and think to myself I must go to the shop before I die of starvation. I strip down and step into the shower slowly turning, the water on high and letting it beat over my head. Closing my eyes to the water as the heat soaks into my skin flashes of Jaxon's face invades my mind. I lean against the cool tiles trying my best not to cry another tear for him.
I dry my hair and spend some time styling it in hopes it will make me look less miserable. As I pull out my clothes from the wardrobe, I see Jaxon's clothes neatly hung next to mine. I love his dress sense, he is so trendy and his clothes smell like his aftershave. Pulling out one of his jumpers I sit down on the bed smelling the neck and sigh, brushing my fingers over the soft material remembering him wearing it on New Year's Eve.
I storm out to the kitchen where I pull out bin bags from a drawer, marching back into the bedroom, I start taking Jaxon's clothes off the hangers, folding them into bags one by one. I scout the room for anything else of his laying around the bedroom but there isn't anything immediate. He must have packed most of his stuff for Scotland when I noticed there weren't any of his toiletries on the shelf. I grab my phone from the bed and I confidently compose a text to Jaxon.
