Study Room [Modern AU]

Both of you are currently in their study room, which is by the corner of their house near their bedroom, away from human-made noises. The room was small, but it was sufficient for you two. A small window between the shelves, where well-organized books are neatly arranged and furniture are nicely placed around.

It's been a while since you've seen each other; they have been busy studying, and tonight they invited you to come over to their house, and you didn't hesitate to come.

Making it clear why you were with them, they invited you overnight to their place to study. You just wanted to spend some time with them before the both of you were going to be busy. But exams were approaching, and knowing Hanji's having high intelligence, they dragged you along with them to study even though the exams were just two weeks away.

When it comes to education, Hanji is very strict; their grades in every subject are almost perfect in comparison to yours; as long as you pass the subject, it is fine. But they won't agree with that, and even if you don't agree with them, they won't accept a no for an answer. However, if studying with them is the only way for the two of you to be together, for the time being, you would have no hesitation in agreeing.

You sighed, your back feeling a bit heavy. You leaned against the table, which had a variety of books on it, including the books Hanji had been reading to you for study purposes.

"As well as the year 845..." Hanji, your lover, continued their talk, but you were starting to get distracted and couldn't act any longer. You started tapping your feet against the cold concrete, making a faint sound that was loud enough for them to hear.

You began to hum a tune, totally forgetting that you were supposed to be studying with them and preparing for the exams, but you were starting to lose control.

Your senses came back when you felt a tap on your shoulders, you looked at your side just to be greeted by their disgraceful face.

"Earth to Y/N are you listening to me, Y/N?" They came up with the question. "I...yes, I was listening!" you gulped silently. You lied while attempting to form a smile on your mouth, but Hanji isn't easily fooled.

You swear you saw the corner of their lips lift as if it were a warning sign that you were being observed.

"Sure, then. What year did the Country Marley raid the Paradis, if you were really listening?" Your body froze, and it was then that you realized how much you'd screwed up, regretting getting distracted.

Seconds have passed and still, no words formed and came out of your mouth. By now it was enough for Hanji to confirm that you weren't really paying attention. "Seems you weren't paying attention at all," they frowned, removing their glasses from their face and placing it on the table.

"Y/N, you know we shouldn't waste time-" You knew they will give you a long speech about why it's important to study and not get distracted. If they begin to say all of those, you knew it would take longer for the night to end. Studying takes a long time; if they add more lectures about the importance of studying, it would take the two of you a long time to finish.

Before they could finish their talk, you grabbed their shirt collar, which threw them off guard, and their light brown eyes widened as you pulled them closer to you. Both of you made eye contact, but it didn't last long when you closed the gap between you two by pressing your lips against their soft ones.

You missed those times when they had this moment with you, you missed the familiar electric feeling whenever the two of you kissed, and by now? it felt foreign. Doing unexpected stuff like this is enough to bring them back to their old self.

At first, Hanji didn't return the kiss, still shocked, still processing what was going on. Their hands reached out and lightly tapped your shoulder, signaling you to stop. Yet you didn't respond, your emotions were consuming you, what you wanted was followed by your own body and you couldn't stop it.
