Third person's view

David doubted his words for a moment before slowly nodding, the god already knowing he was skeptical of him since his eyebrows were slightly arched.

The brunet turned his head back to the books, continuing his search for a satisfying book.  Reading was his hobby. A hobby he picked for himself. A hobby he fought people for.

They said reading won't take you anywhere and although it may be true since he was jobless, he learned more things that people with only muscles has ever known.

He wasn't one to call people a brainless peon,  but he just couldn't help it when some person decided to test him.

David was mildly uncomfortable from the God's stare earlier, but it seemed too sticky to run away from.  It almost made him want to stare at him as well. To see who owned the stare that made him want to stay.  He didn't know why this guy suddenly appeared,  never seeing him or his friend from anywhere.  Their choices of clothing was pretty off putting too, but he wasn't one to judge of physical appearance.

A soft melody was playing on the gramophone,  both the brunet and blond knew the song.

It was the brunet's favorite while the God recalled it as the song that played when they first met.  It was memorable to both of them.

David started humming the small melody of the song, him still searching for a book,  even going to another bookshelf to find one.

The god excused himself from Karl for a moment,  the time traveller only rolling his eyes,  teasing him a little before grabbing an Almanac to help keep himself from being bored.

The brunet's finger brushed against the spines of the books as he searched,  looking at the spines to see the titles of it and checking if it's interesting enough.

He finally found a fitting title and pulled the book from its slot,  seeing the God on the other side with his mask on the side,  a small smile on his face as he waved at him.

David flinched at his sudden appearance before relaxing at waving back at him,  not seeing any of his intentions as cruel.  He seemed like a trustworthy person.

The god only blinked at him,  smile stretching a bit more as he places his mask back on its place.  David saw a hint of adoration in his stretched smile, but only said to himself that he was seeing things he shouldn't see.

While David was assuring himself of the smile,  the god was assuring himself that he was okay.  His eyes were getting blurry as his tears were forming,  him never forgetting how they first met. It pained him as David was one of the most sweetest guy he's ever met. He was also the second most closest one that mirrored his friend accurately,  George being the first one.

That's why he took his chance on George. He can't let him go ever again.

He was broken just from going back to the past and remembering everything,  reliving it even.

But,  it was his way of coping.  And besides,  atleast he'll see them again.  All he wished for is that he can change everything without ruining the present.  Of course,  he's asking for too much as everything has consequences.

They turned their back on the bookshelves, one having a hand on his mouth to not let his emotions slip while one hand both hands on the book he was reading, unaware of the person's pain on the other side.

The god only placed his hand on the empty slot of the bookshelf, gripping it slightly as he closed his eyes forcefully. David heard the sound of the scraping wood as he looked at the hand on slot.  He was confused,  but he looked on the other side,  seeing the broken god.

He gasped and immediately went up to him,  wanting to help him.

"What's wrong?"  He asked as he reached him,  his book being placed horizontally on the slot.

His hand placed itself on his shoulder as the God only shook his head as a response to the question and also as denial for the concern he was given at the moment.

He didn't deserve it....

David only sighed and reached up to him, grabbing his head with both hands before hugging it,  standing on the tips of his toes just to do so.

The god flinched, but hugged him back,  wrapping his arms around him as he bites his lips, containing his sobs.  He was already embarrassed enough that this was what happened to their first meeting even before back then.

He swallowed down the sob he had in his throat and stood up, wiping his eyes from under his mask.

"I'm fine now...Thank you."

He was far from fine,  but he couldn't stay here any longer. He just wanted to leave.

David looked at him in concern before nodding,  completely not believing him as he grabbed the book again.  He looked at him up and down before looking at his book, grabbing his hand and leading him to the table.

"Let's read together to take your mind off of it, hmm?"

The god only chuckled out sadly as he nodded,  seeing Karl on the table that was in front of their table.

Karl looked weirded out since they were so close immediately even though they just like half a second ago,  but he shrugged it off.  Not understanding the logistics of the world.

Both sat on a chair across from eachother as David placed the book in the middle of the table,  giving it to the God who took it silently,  opening it to go to the first page.  He already read this book over and over again,  but he found a connection with it which never made him any bored of reading it all over again.

David smiled softly as he watched him read before standing up to find another book to read,  leaving the god all alone on the table.

It hurt so badly...To be alone...
