Hello Kitty

"Okay, now don't go breaking anything," I said, opening up my bedroom door. Lev had insisted on studying in my room, despite how many times I insisted that the kitchen table was more than adequate. Mom wasn't home yet and it wasn't like I had any siblings to worry about. But of course, Lev wasn't one to change his mind when he set it to something.

In all honesty, I didn't see what could have been so interesting about my bedroom in the first place. It's not like I was some school celebrity or had some deep dark secrets... I was just an average high school student... well... mostly average. Pretty sure naming a soccer ball and carrying it around all the time wasn't exactly normal.

I stepped inside and placed SB in his usual place on my desk. If he wasn't with me, he would always be right there. Soon as SB was down, I turned to Lev. "See? Just like I told you, Nothing special here. It's just a bedroom."

Lev didn't entirely seem to believe that though. No, the silver-haired giant was still looking around excitedly. I didn't get why though. It's not like I had anything to really look at. I didn't have any posters or medals or even figures to look at. Just plain old walls... boring furniture... my desk being clean might have been different, but not exactly noteworthy.

Knowing I wouldn't be able to snap him out of it until he'd seen all he wanted to, I set my bag down and began pulling out my textbooks and notes for today. Soon he should be realizing my room is as boring as it can get and be ready for studying. I hoped so, at least.

"Is that Hello Kitty?" At the sound of Lev's exclamation, I looked up from the notes. He picked up something from beside the desk and showing it to me.

"Forgot I had that. Must have gotten knock of my desk." I shrugged it off, simply taking the plush from his hands and setting her back on the desk next to SB.

Lev tilted his head curiously. "I thought you didn't like Hello Kitty."

"I never said that." I wasn't a big fan or anything, but it was a cute plush.

"Then why do you have it?"

He's not gonna just drop it, is he? "It was a gift from Kanna. The little girl who lived here before me and mom." I pointed over at my window, where the sticker still stayed. "Remember I told you about her? Same little girl who left the sticker on the window."

Lev moved so his gaze was level with mine. "You know it's totally okay to like Hello Kitty. It might be a little kid thing, but if you like it that's fine."

I sighed. "Lev, do I seriously look like I'm a fan of Hello Kitty?" I gestured around the room, trying to get the point across. He didn't look like he believed it though. Or maybe this was just payback for me picking on him about the cardboard cutout he had in his room.

"It's not like it's weird." Lev shrugged. "It's as weird as my cutout of KittyKat. You like what you like."

Yep. This is payback for before. Scowling, I gave him a shove, trying to push him over. It didn't work out that way though. Instead of pushing him, I'd only ended up knocking myself backward, making him laugh at me.

As I sat back up, there was a light knock on my door. "I hope I'm not interrupting," my mother said from the open doorway. "I didn't know you'd be bringing home a friend, Reisa."

"This is Lev. He wanted to study here tonight." At that, Lev stood up, probably wanting to show off how tall he was. "It was kind of unexpected."

My mother just waved it off. "Not a problem, sweetie. You never bring friends home." She flashed a sweet smile. "Not to mention a handsome one. Lev, was it? Would you like to stay for dinner?"

Lev blushed lightly at being called handsome. I mean, I'd never really thought about his looks, but I guess I could see how he could be handsome. "That'd be great!"

My mother gave a little wave and then let us be. I know a normal mother would want to hover and check in on us, but my mom wasn't like that. She always let me do my own thing and trusted me to do what was best. It hadn't ever been a problem before, so why should it start now? Besides, it wasn't like I'd been blabbing about having a crush on him or anything, because I simply didn't. At this point, Lev and I were merely friends.

Finally having gotten his mind off the plush though, I quickly brought his attention to studying. Hopefully, this would go well tonight. Even so, he did continue to bring up how my mother had called him handsome...

"You know, your mom is really nice."
