"Make sure you come back to the Hallow, alive. We wouldn't want the...impossible odds to happen again." Myrrah suggested, tapping her fingers on the arm of her throne. She was impatient and I could tell. She stared at my right arm. All there was left was: the shoulder. That day reminded me to keep my guard up.
"I will-"
"No, you will succeed. We will get a replacement at the end, for your arm. Everyday it must wonder in your mind of how humans can be so cruel. Let me rephrase that, Ronin. Your own kind took something from you. It shows why we have to strip their freedom away. You will take the Throne when the time comes. But, I am making an exception since you are my only child.
As a mother, I wouldn't want anything to happen to you. Your the only youngest human of the Hallow. 27, but I assume you have a thirst to get back at the humans. Bring the coordinates to their next move, this could be a weapon they are developing."
I gave her a brief nod.
"I'll be with them for a while. Give me time to gain their trust."
"Indeed, humans do not adapt to that ever so quickly. The coronation will begin when the blood moon arrives. Be silent around them and observe their ways." My mother suggested to me. I kept my eyes to the ground. I could feel the brief sting of my arm. That was only a little while ago when I lost it.
"Do not be sadden, Ronin. Your arm was a symbol of how your people turn on each other. Now it's our turn to bring the flames down on them, though I do pity them." She said waving her hand in the air, signalling the two guards who stood next to me to dismiss me out of the throne room.
"I do wish you a safe trip. Kill anyone who gets in your way, we will be in contact by our minds." I gave a sly grin to my mother.
"I'll make you proud. Just remember, that you worry too much." She gave me a laugh while we exited.
"I am sure you will." She says silently. That was a few days ago. The memory drove me upon achieving our goal. The Hallow was hidden underground, we were safe from them for now.
I must of walked for days, I felt exhausted. I started to hallucinate, I saw children run by me. But, I knew they weren't there. The sun started to rise. Beautiful colours dusted the sky in flawless colours. I have never seen a sunset, nor a sunrise in my life. I took a moment to witness it. Then continued to walk through an abandoned town. The wind picked up and blew the sand into my eyes. Thankfully I had goggles on. The wind was freezing cold, and the streets were silent.
My eyes dragged from the concrete to a gas station. Many body's layed there, some of the blood was fresh. Some of the Locust Horde layed on the ground. I walked passed the pumps to the gas bar. I held my hand gun in one of my palms.
I took a step over the smashed window. The glass crushed under my boots. I needed to blend in with my kind, they will know that I am with the Locust. Every step I took, glass crushed under my boots.
Some of the cog soldiers layed in defeat, their blood scattered around them. I felt pity for them. I dragged one of the soldiers upwards, leaning him up against the counter. I took the jacket off the solider. The jacket was a silver, leather, coat, the collar glowed red, and had a bit of blood splattered on it. The body fell with a thud. I stepped over the body and searched through the pack he had. I found a pare of cargo pants, bandages, very little amount of water, and ammo.
I wasn't the one to complain. I took the pack and walked over to the bathroom. I didn't understand the blue and pink sign. But, the colour must of symbolised female and male.
I shoved the door open, scanning the perimeter before locking the door. I pressed a button on my silver and red suit. I tossed the chest plate off and bandaged my chest up. Then put on the female shirt that was at the front. Then put on the black cargo pants, then the jacket on. I hid the armour in a stall. Suddenly the lights over my head started to flicker. I darted my head over to the door when I heard voices. The voices began to become louder, then upon the other side of the door. My heart rapidly beat against my rib-cage. Panic set in, I looked around then saw a window. It was small and not very narrow. It was enough for me to get out.
I jumped up with my left hand catching the windowsill. I bit my lip and hoisted myself up, enough to kick the screen out.
"There is a noise in the bathroom, you know what that means." A Female voice said. I managed to crawl through the window and I fell onto one of my knees, breaking the fall.
There was a sudden explosion that was heard. And smoke escaped the window. I hid around the white and red gas station. I saw a male with a bandanna on his head, he carried a gas container and placed it in the back of a pick up truck. The man looked intimidating, while he held his gun. The gun had part of a chainsaw on it. The other man looked cybernetic, nothing I have ever seen before. His hair was short, but tied back in a pony tail.
"Marcas! We need you for a moment." A woman's voice called out from the gas station. The man with the bandanna ran into the gas bar, while two men talked in the front seat of the truck. I then hid behind a gas pump. Then ran to the back hoping they didn't see me. I climbed quietly into the back where the tarp covered over the corner of the truck. I hid under the blue tarp, I placed my knees to my chest, making myself smaller and unnoticeable.
"Damn grubs, playing tricks on us. When I find that son of a bitch, I am gonna make sure they don't play games on us again." A woman said, slightly startling me, she sounded intimidating.
"Scarlett, it was probably nothing..."The guy in the front seat said calmly.
"Scar, what ever it was it is still near by, we've got the gas. Let's get out of here." Marcas grumbled, placing the last jerrycan down in the back. Scarlett must of been the blond girl. I peaked out from the corner of the tarp.
"Says the man who managed to get shot." Scarlett smirks. Marcas inhales deeply then exhales.
"It is nothing that I can't handle." He says in a deep voice. The engine suddenly shook, giving me a hint we were going somewhere. The two jumped into the back, very close to where I was. My silver hair moved back and forth with the movement from the vehicle.
I smiled at the red colour at the ends, it reminded me about my mom. I wanted to make her proud, though not many things pleased her. She barely showed me affection...I hated that side of her.
"Marc, your going to need stitches from my two lovely sisters." Scarlett teased Marcas making him roll his eyes.
"Scar, your not exactly related to them-"
"Zip it, they are like my sisters. Anya and Breanne both are. I protected the younger one when one of the grubs managed to get into the hospital. Wait until the Collanol finds out that we broke you out, Marcas." Scarlett teased Marcas making him feel uncomfortable.
"Say a word to him when we get there and I'll make sure that you won't be able to speak."
"Is that a threat, Marcas? I can also report to Elizabeth if you want." Scarlett laughed.
Marcas became silent for a little while. Some type of annoying music suddenly turned on. A growl was heard from the Marcas.
"Alvaro, turn it down." Marcas orders.
"Sure thing, though I don't remember you saying what your favourite tunes were. You have zero taste in music, Fenix." It seemed like Marcas wasn't too fond of. He seemed like a good leader, even with the constant orders.
A/note: Hey everyone! Thank you so much for giving me motivation to write this, I wanted to let you guys know that none of the main characters are gonna die in this, some scenes may seem close to it, but I am not eliminating anyone off. I'd just feel like that wouldn't be fair. But again, I appreciate the support and motivation, and I hope you enjoy this book. I am gonna make a weekly schedule, to update as often as I can. :)
